Work progress #3

Hello. I'm glad to report that my game Ronin has been completed. Its Polish version has recently appeared on Polish RPG Maker websites. Now it's time to start translating into English, so you just have to wait a little longer for the premiere. The most important thing, however, is that the game is finished. Thank you all for your kind words about the project and for visiting the game's profile. The next blog entry will probably announce the final completion of the game and the release of its English version. See you soon!

Work progress #2

It's been a while. Let me share a little progress on Ronin.

I'm slowly getting closer to the end. I don't want to spoil too much, so I'll leave the details of what exactly was created to myself. Certainly, a number of maps are to be expected. I also kinda spruced up the visual side of things to make the experience enjoyable. Although there were some scripts that I'd been thinking of and ultimately gave up on.
Of course, after creating the whole thing, there will be a time for testing; to check whether the game throws any errors and whether everything works as it should. I will also be reviewing everything again, wondering if anything could be improved further. When everything is ready, only then will I start translating the game into English (since the original language of the game is Polish).

So, not to leave you mere words, I'm posting this short video showcasing a fragment from the game.

Work progress #1

It’s been a while, so I think it's time to write something about the progress of my work on Ronin.
Creating the game itself is going slower than I expected, but surely forward (because there’s also other stuff to do). I really try to focus on the audio because I want it to fulfill its role and emphasize the atmosphere of the whole thing. I'm also perfecting the graphical and event aspects because I want to build the disturbing atmosphere hanging over the Kanashimi Hills (where the game takes place) as much as possible.
The initial stages have also been improved, I have slightly changed the course of the plot and rebuilt the gameplay and dialogues so that the whole thing takes on a greater atmosphere, as above.
Originally, I planned a residual amount of text and dialogue, so that the uncertainty and not full understanding of what is happening would intensify the whole and cause theories and conjectures. However, I changed that concept. Don't worry - I won't overwhelm you with walls of text, but I still decided to expand the dialogues to get even more out of the game, while leaving something unsaid to let the imagination run wild. Generally, I am improving a lot of things, which is why the creation progress is slow. However, I hope that the effect will be worth it.
Another thing is that a former samurai cannot be defenseless! There will also be battles in the game, but they won't be that important - you can complete the whole thing practically without fighting (if you have nimble hands). There will be no levels or experience in the game.

At the end, I will, of course, post additional screenshots from the gameplay. As it is the case in many games, we will also meet independent characters.
