It's a dog's life...

Helloooo! Rtp lovers and Rm2k and Rm2k3 aficionados!
Here we are for another game that was made for the event Boulevard of Broken 2k3 Dreams, Stray Adventure. And everyone knows HOW MUCH I LOVE Rpgmaker 2000 and 2003 games (see my avatar? That's Klaus, if you know him we can be friends!).
Ok, so this game was made by Tahnryu, and this is the first game we've from this developer.

This game is a very short adventure with no battles and a dog, Cerberus, as the protagonist and our alter ego. The game starts when the old granny Edith goes to the market and leaves Cerberus at home. But the dog does not want to wait at gome. Guess what? Going to town will reveal that Edith is in trouble! Will Cerberus be able to save her owner and favourite human being? Play and see what happens...
well just a little note: Cerberus isn't a name chose randomly, since in the course of the short adventure our little dog will show that he has three qualities: courage, loyalty and the brutality of the mythic three headed dog with the same name! But uhm ok, in a fantasy world where orcs and bandits roam the lands, that's surely a good thing considering that Cerberus is a good hearted fellow, and not a bad dog.

Anyway how is the gameplay? Simply go around, talk with people and solve some easy tasks like looking for items or destroying orcs! I wrote "destroying" since they have no chance to fight back (as I wrote before there is NO combat... and also NO possibility of game over, so save if you want but don't worry I found no way to get a bad ending... not even a game breaking bug, so that's good I guess!

These (p)orcs will learn to fear me! Cerberus is an appropriate name for this little dog...

Visually this game is a classic rpgmaker 2k3 RTP game, meaning that you have probably already seen all the assets here, but you know what? They're used very well! There are just four maps but all are pretty large and well composed, filled with details and some interactions. I liked a lot mapping in this game, it's done with attention and profesionally. I just wish there was MORE: more interactions, more characters, more maps! Because I like what I see. Music is also pretty good and different for each map, but ok... there are just four! By the way that's all good from this point of view!

Final Verdict
Stray Adventure is a really cute short story and adventure, with a nostalgic feel. Unfortunately there is very little adventure, but that's really the only complaint I can make because everything else is pretty good, I would not mind if the game was slightly bigger and the story slightly more complex, anyway I liked it, I played it twice (I missed some optional things to do that I realized won't chance anything but ok). Uhm the only thing is that ince arrived in town it's a bit difficult understanding what you've to do to push the story forward... I think! That's a mandatory interaction that you've to do and that wasn't really expected but ok.
So this was Stray Adventure, a short cute scenario. As usual if you absolutely love old style rpgmaker games feel free to add 0.5 to the rating, if not you can see what's below and after reading all this decided if you can spend 10-12 with this game. Why not?

Thank you, for your review.^^
I'm happy you like my mapping, I always overcritical and never satisfied with it. With this game I also was tied to the RTP tiles, it was a hard task for me to make something good, in my opinion.
This also was my first 2k3 game in a very long time. It actually drew me back into the 2k3, so I'm working on a bigger 2k3 game, now. Where I'm less restricted and try my absolute best. Since you like the RTP sprites, stay tuned. :D
