A trip down memory lane to visit the museum...

Hi players!
"My Youthful Museum of Memories" is a visual novel by Corfaisus made with rpgmaker 2000 for "The Simple Times" 2023 event on RPGMaker.net. This is an event game so it's naturally pretty short and simple, what I did not expect was that this is game is about real life memories.

The game start with us controlling young Corafaisus as he wanders around the various locations of his youth: home, school, the shop, and the street in front of the house. Our kid can only walk horizontally from right to left and from left to right, so it's not possible to explore the maps fully, on the other hand there are many points of interests that can be examined.

Examination leads to out protagonist start telling some real life situations about the old times, be it episodes regarding school or videogames or family. Of course I am not going to tell you anything in case you want to play this game, in any case what you've to expect is a re-telling of how childhood was like in the 90s for the developer. Clearly there is also the part (actually more than one!) regarding the videogames, and I admit that was my favourite moment, anyway I wished there was something more about it, maybe some reference to the rpgmaker years... but uhm ok! Oh and when you will be tired just head for the bed.

Oh yes, sweet memories!

Now, the visual sees about six maps in a sort of sepia tone (maybe a bit too bright), made with the usual rpgmaker2000 RTPs assets that you may have already seen one thousand times, what I can say is that mapping is ok, the only issue is due to the limitations of the RTPs that lead to representing a truck with the graphics of a mine cart. A couple of maps could also have been more furnished/populated but I didn't mind too much. Music is simple (one single track) and appropriate for a short quiet event game.

Aside for exploring (a little) and reading (a lot) there is nothing else to do, surely this is not a really exciting adventure but may be interesting for remembering the old times. That's it.

Final Verdict
This is "My Youthful Museum of Memories" or "My MoM"(kudos for this acronym!), a not really exciting but pretty unique event entry (I find difficult to call it a "game", and impossible to give it a rating!) with a lot to read, and for its particular nature it's a "game" I'm not able to rate. It's like a sort of walking simulator rather than a visual novel, and well, it's difficult to recommend, anyway due to its short length this is something worth checking, if you think it will be an interesting experience.
