It's been theoretically proven that Aerith did not die when Sephiroth skewered her...she was actually just paralyzed due to her spinal cord being severed. Her actual death occured when that moron Cloud dropped her into the water, where she drowned...but to quote a famous Researcher "It's just a theory, a GAME theory"
