System Shock 2 Psionics

Well, moving to a new place followed by metric tonnes of crap in the personal life have temporarily ground this game to a halt. But I will have a new download up as soon as possible. Which may not be for several months still, but.
Topic for discussion: What did you think of the Psionic powers in System Shock 2? Useless / not? As I am gleefully ripping them off in this game, I'd like to know. My attitude is that psionic abilities should accomplish things that can't be accomplished any other way, as opposed to just doubling the function of weapons, technical skills, healing items etc. For example, I plan to have psi talents that give experience multipliers, and this will be the only way to get experience multipliers in the game. Also, the unwieldiness of selecting and using psi powers in SS2 won't be a problem since that game was real time and this game is turn-based.
Also, does anyone really care about temporary status buffs? In my experience, I just never use them, especially when they are in the form of items. Suppose they are excluded from this game?

I'm expert of SS2 cause i finished this game two times and getting start to finish this third time. Now i'm playing SS1 btw and creating one of my games inspired by SS2 XD Psionic Make game much more easier...We do not must depending on magazines just have to filll our psi-points bar. With psi game was easy and not scary as with standard guns only game was scary very much cause we never sure when ammo gone. In turn based game it could be a interesting addon but i think in real time action it makes game easier (with psi class game was very easy)
I would use temporary status buff items as long as the effects were significant and the interface navigation to using them were minimal.
I love the Psionic powers because I love System Shock 2. I think making your Psionics a little more useful out of the gate might be good though. It is very hard to play a Psionic character in SS2 on your first playthrough. You need to learn the game's mechanics and learn how to 'spec one first.

Yes. It's not as intuitive as finding a gun and being like, 'ah, a gun.'
Also, I think having enemies wielding some of the psi powers will alert the player to their usefulness. In my first SS2 playthrough it was the fireball-throwing monkeys that made me aware of pyrokinesis.
