I've been asked about the 3x3 cube in The Staff of Cyrenia, and this game contains a 4x4 Rubik's Cube. Not really any easier than a 3x3. Anywho, I decided to complete one and post a step-by-step of what I did, just to give perhaps a breath of life into anyone who isn't the ultimate Rubik's master (not that I am - not by a long shot!).

THIS IS WHAT MY PUZZLE LOOKED LIKE AT THE START (YES I'M IN THE EDITOR)

From here, I simply placed all the red orbs on the left side of the cube.

From here, I...
---Moved the rightmost vertical row down one spot
---Moved the top horizontal row right two spots
---Moved the rightmost vertical row back up one spot
---Moved the top horizontal row back left two spots.
The purpose here was to get the top row red lined up with a blue.

From this point, I...
---Moved the rightmost vertical row down two spots
---Moved the second and third horizontal rows right two spots.
The purpose here was to prepare the second and third horizontal reds to line up with blues.

From here, I...
---Moved the rightmost vertical row up two spots
---Moved the second and third horizontal rows left two spots.
The purpose here was to get all the reds lined up with blues to the right.

Now, I...
---Moved the top horizontal row right one spot
---Moved the rightmost vertical row up one spot
---Moved the top horizontal row left one spot.
The purpose here was to get three of the purple orbs in the right row.

At last, I did the following...
---Moved the third horizontal row right one spot
---Moved the rightmost vertical row up two spots
---Put the third horizontal row back left one spot, to finish up!
The purpose here was to get the third orb in the third horizontal row to be green, and to line up the other purples with the green.

If you're stuck on this puzzle, bear with me! These buggers can be tricky (I just now played them five times - four times I solved them relatively quickly, but one time took me a good 7-8 minutes). My hopes here is that this will give you a sense of how to work the puzzle - reds to the left, then make whatever moves to get the blues lined up to the right of the reds, then to jostle the greens and purples around to get them to their correct placements as well.

This is just one of the puzzles that the game could present - there are tens, perhaps hundreds of possibilities as far as how the arrangement will be when you start it.
