I haven't updated for a while, I'm sorry guys~
Stuff happened and let's just say, it wasn't really pretty. But nonetheless, something great happened today that I just want to make a blog post about it! I idolize this pixel artist and he's helping me for free. I couldn't believe it at first!
I'm waiting for Project SRW to reach a stable phase, until then I won't work on the game's inner workings for now but I've been redoing Marian's game mechanics and brainstorming on what to do. But it all came down to this:
Something to Note:
Weapons = Grimoire, regardless if they're a book or not
Familiar = Essence in terms of equip slot and providing passives.
Marian
Grimoires have their own elements and effects, your SP recovers a bit depending on the weapon you wore. Aqua does Freeze, Ignis does Bleeding, Aero causes stun+slow, Gaea makes the enemy petrify/charmed/sleep, Caelestis and Infra has +instant KO attribute in them. They also add stats to Marian if they're equipped, example would be like Gaea-based Grimoire adds +3 to defense. They also change your elemental attribute, the stronger the weapon is, the stronger your resistance towards that said element when equipped. In Lvl 5, you'll hit STR, meaning strong against that element and only getting little damage, when maxed it could be either NULL/DRN effect.
Alice
Her skillset relies on drawing luck from the cards and Sacrificial Items. She invokes skills from said items and deal massive status effects on enemies AND inflicting damage. While she can do this with her usual skills, it's less scary so to speak but does more damage. Alice is challenging to make skillsets for ze e_e
Gunnar
Gunnar relies on arrow types and his elemental attacks and skills change depending on what arrows you let him use. He can also skill chain as long as you have sufficient arrows. He's can also nuke stronger magic than Marian at a lower level.
Kell
She relies on physical attacks and combos. There's not much to be said aside from she can punch your enemies in the face so hard their shins will hurt. She also can provide support magic for healing.
Archeia
Practically the "Analyzer" and "Critical"-hitting person. She's another physical character on your group and buffer. Her specialty is "Manipulation of Turns"
Other than that, I have to finalize a lot of other stuff and redo their skillsets. I also decided to make the game "a month" that way the pacing won't be so bad and that you have plenty of time to get ready for the real scenario. And here, have some visuals.

And trash that needs to be redone:
Priority Checklist
>Finish all of Marian's Battleset (10/10 done)
>Finish all of Marian's Sprites (1/11 done)
>Finish all of Arc's Battleset (0.3/10)
>Finish all of Arc's Sprites (1/11 done)
>Finish all of Gunnar's Battleset (not yet started)
>Finish all of Gunnar's Sprites (1/11)
>Finish all of Kell's Battleset (not yet started)
>Finish all of Kell's Sprites (2/11)
>Finish all of Alice's Battleset (not yet started)
>Finish all of Alice's Sprites (3 more)
>Edit database Skills and Items for any necessary add-ons, etc. (Fixing Stuff now)
>Finalize Map Layouts

SERIOUSLY, these graphics are way off the chain! This might be the best-looking RM game I've ever seen! I can't wait to see how it looks in action!
Kell: "she can punch your enemies in the face so hard their shins will hurt"
Sounds like my kind of character!
Sounds like my kind of character!
I wish I had as much progress to show as you do for my games D':
In any case, I really love the Alice concept sketches. I love Alice's design, and Gunnar is love no matter which way you draw him P:.
Overall the character designs are simply beautiful. They both embody the characters themselves and make the player (moi) intrigued to know more about them.
I want Archeia's scythe, just to put it on my wall.
Congratulations on getting another spriter to the team. Given the amount of graphics you're doing for this game, I'm sure that's got to be a bit of a burden off your shoulders.
Keep up the good work Ness!
(You know I've never asked, but what do you prefer in terms of short names? Arc or Ness?)
