In preparation of the upcoming autumn release (and more exciting future plans I'm not quite ready to share yet) take a look at this brand new World's Dawn cover art! Special thanks goes out to Erangot, the artist behind this fantastic piece and all the character portraits in the game itself.

My hope is that this artwork will give potential players a good idea of the genre and overall feel of the game at a moment's glance. I absolutely love early Harvest Moon official art and wanted to do something similar to really give Sugar Blossom Village a better, more colorful sense of place.

Quick update on the autumn season: I'm confident enough to say the next chapter will be released by the end of this month! I'm still unsure of a specific date as of yet, but stay tuned for more on that front. Hopefully not too much longer... Thank you for being patient in the meantime, and continuing to support the project.

Please let me know what you think of the artwork! Does it capture the feel of a quiet, slow-paced farming sim?

It's a very charming, atmospheric image. I think there is room for some more details in the field, like crops or livestock so we'd better understand what kind of farming the game is about just from a glance at the cover art.

The bright sunset in the center and the amount of wind suggested by the clothes and hair, the leaves and the clouds' shapes give it a feel of high energy/fast movement/busyness.

The center of an image always strikes the eye and greatly influences the atmosphere. Light is energy. Bright light in warm colors (red, orange, yellow) therefore suggests high energy. To suggest a more quieter mood I would opt for a high midday sun and blue sky. By having the source of light away from the center and use a cool color like blue, the mood would seem less energetic.

The wind adds a lot of interesting motion and eases immersion. I'd keep it like that.

Getting a feeling out of an image is highly subjective though. So don't take my personal opinion as absolute truth. This is a great, appealing image.
It does capture the beauty of rural farmland. The sunset is a nice touch. I second the idea of adding some crops or buildings into the background.

Actually I thought it was sunrise, to go with the title of the game, World's Dawn. I do agree though, perhaps a little more animal/farm life in the background. The rolling empty vista behind her is lovely, but it doesn't accurately represent the game. That is centred around the village and the interactions with the denizens, this makes it look like she's alone in the world, with just her dog, and a storm is coming. It fits with the upcoming autumn season with the colour palette and the leaves falling from the trees in preparation for winter, so perhaps it's a good opening graphic for that season.
Very interesting points! Thank you all for your feedback.

Perhaps I chose the wrong words with "capturing the feel of Sugar Blossom Village"... the reference I gave to the artist was from the intro of the game, where the main character and her dog are looking out over the village from a mountain path. It makes sense that the sense of adventure is more what gets across, as it depicts the beginning of the game and seeing the town for the first time.

Avee, those were all super interesting points about the wind, colors, and point of focus all lending themselves to a sense of high energy. I totally agree even if I've never quite thought of it that way. Thank you so much for your detailed breakdown!
