A Poor Attempt

Having played this game, I have only one thought on my mind. Someone gather the Dragon Balls and wish for Shenlong to remove this game from existence!
There were many failings in this game, the first being an over-reliance on dialogue leading to a lack of actual gameplay. The dialogue itself employed ellipsis every few boxes and physically made the player wait in several spots for what I can only assume was supposed to be dramatic effect and emphasis. The font itself was illegible, despite having patched my RPG Maker 2003 to eliminate any issues with the default font. Judging by the fact there is a Fonts folder included with the game, it would seem that this is a custom font the creator actively chose, wherein the Ts look like Ls and it's impossible to discern the difference between lowercase As, Es, and Os!
The title is further hindered by a lack of direction. In many cases I was unsure where to go or who to speak to in order to advance the plot and continue with the game. This is inexcusable, and on multiple occasions I had to speak to every person I saw and try to enter every area I came across, just begging for something to happen!
Visually, the game is an absolute mess. There are Legacy of Goku rips, mixed with RTP style edits, as well as cameos from characters such as Edward Elric, and other video game and anime characters that were seemingly downloaded from Charas-Project which further clashed. Some of the sprites on screen were actually painful to look at.
The one saving grace, in the graphics department, was pixel art imagery depicting various events. These had been traced from actual screenshots of the anime, and were likely commissioned, but were of a high quality none-the-less.
The battle system is the DBS for RPG Maker, and utilized Supersonic Warriors sprites, again with a complete disregard to whether those sprites fit any form of theme. The only options were to Punch and Kick, as well as a Power option with no discernible purpose or function. Fights were dull, I found myself mashing space bar just praying they would end, and enemies had ridiculous amounts of HP, extended the fights beyond any reasonable length.
There was no enjoyment or pleasure to be found from booting up Raging Pride. There was nothing that could be salvaged. The creator claims, on the page for the game, that this is a serious attempt to make a fun title that's true to the source material. In trying to stay true to said source material, the creator forgot to make an actual game!
If you want a hard lesson in what not to do when making a game, look no further than Raging Pride for a prime example of basic game design rules, laws and principles being thrown out the window in favour of fanboyism.

Jeez, don't you think this is really pretty harsh?
The things mentioned were true nonetheless, but the rating was still harsh.

I think the rating was justified. There were no redeeming qualities to be found here. The one positive thing I could say is that the guy who made this was clearly enthusiastic and wanted to put a lot of passion into this, but that only makes the result all the more painful to play through.
This video covers a lot of points

I watched the video and these are some of my positive thoughts that you neglected to mention in the review.
-LOVED the message box graphics.
-Graphically captures the spirit and atmosphere of the show
-Lots of areas to explore and people to talk to.
Your friend is a jerk who insults the creator on a personal level, and it's clear he wanted to hate the game before even playing it. You don't sound much more enthusiastic ("the creator should feel bad for making this" isn't helpful or constructive on any level, and you're playing a fanmade rm game based on DBZ, so were you really expecting a professional quality game?). I would suggest trying to be more positive in your reviews, but it's pretty obvious that you wrote this review to hurt his feelings and nothing more.
What makes me absolutely sick about this is that most of the major design flaws that you point out (lack of direction, balancing issues and long battles, bad font, lack of skills) seem like they would be easy fixes, and could be easily implemented if someone would courteously inform the creator of their opinion instead of shitting all over it with this sorry excuse for a review. All you've done here is try to encourage the author to quit, seemingly on purpose.
With some work, this could be fixed into an excellent fan game.

I disagree. There are too many problems to fix the current build. It would be faster, more convenient for the creator, and produce a better end result, if he simply started over from scratch.
The biggest crimes are, without a doubt, the pacing and the battles. Give us more options in a fight, we don't want to be mashing attack constantly. Actually let us play battles that don't involve Goku, as well as others we were forced to watch. This is supposed to be a game, not a pixel art film! Why didn't we get to fight King Chappa? Why didn't we play as Tenshinhan against Tao Pai Pai? As stated before, there was also a complete lack of direction, and I spent most of the game wishing they'd just get on with it already (see the intense queuing action). The dialogue doesn't just need the fat to be trimmed, it needs a complete rewrite! There's too much, too often, and an over-reliance on...
Visually, they need to find something that fits, all RTP, or all Legacy of Goku, or even a different style all together, NOT a mish mash of all three, which look like visual puke.
The fact that the author clearly poured a lot of time and effort into this and most likely, genuinely, thinks this is actually good just makes it that much sadder.
I stand by everything I've said about the title.
