Why is Cyclone only attacking one part of the Dragon Tank

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Because this is in 2K3, instead of an engine that he could actually have chrono trigger style battles in.

It's actually still possible to do geometric targetting in 2K3 via battle events, but it would be an enormous bitch to code. Cyclone would be really painful and Flamethrower would be unbelievably painful. But even if he eventually decides to do the work needed for that, you can hardly blame him for working on making some playable content before spending another several months on the battle system.

In short, this isn't proper Chrono Trigger combat, but it's as close as anyone could expect in 2K3.

Why does it not have Chrono Trigger combat
I'd like to see a game that is like Chrono Trigger but takes it up a notch. I understand this is early stage video, and just the first boss, but if you just transfer the original game into 2k3 it's not going to be that great(story aside).

In CT you fight that boss and only have 1 skill, well in your game just make up new skills(like buffs) to make it more exciting. Give the player more than what they had at that point in the original. Low numbers, few skills, no combo system on top of the bad DBS will make for a boring game. I like the original CT but the first hour or so is boring as hell.

That's just my point of view. I don't want to play something that is exactly like CT with a different story.

*This post is about the game, not the video. I'm not coming to this conclusion based on just the video, btw. The video shows a good foundation for a CT-like battle system.

CT only had the combo system going for it, without that the game would have been pretty boring and no different from other strong attack spamming combat systems. Since that's not possible in 2k3 it's already not going to be like the original.
Sorry Link, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on some points. I actually have combos in the game, just not in the way you'd expect.

This is also the reason I making this game for the people at the Compendium rather than RMN. They want 999/99 stats. They wanna see the items again. They want to see another 'Chrono Trigger'.

Is this game another Chrono Trigger? No, there will never be another Chrono Trigger, especially not in Rm2k3. But I'm going to try my hardest to bring the fans of that game something that they can play. Something they can enjoy. Not everyone is going to enjoy this game, that's a fact. However, I know by making this game, I can give the fans of this dead series something to look forward to.
Well if anything I'll be looking forward to this fan game.
Some things to say: Some (many) sprites are badly adjusted, as seen in this and the other video. You need to look closer at the sprites and arrange them better... Just a few mistakes everybody seems to overlook while making but really gives an "ack" feeling during gameplay. Also, you're using those super common seen-everywhere almost RTP animations. Don't do this. Ask somebody to help you by getting CT's battleanimations... Pack them up and it'l look much, much nicer! :D
Also, Link_2112 has a point. You want to mimicize the original game, but some features can't be implemented. Make up for it! Invent some new skills! Give more usefulness to the older ones! (By making Cyclone wind-elemental or defense lowering or something) Create other forms of combos! Such as Marle using Ice and weakening the foe's fire resistance for 3 or so turns, giving room for Lucca to use Fire. Or don't do this, just do a check to see if ice and fire were used in sequence, then detract a new ammount of Mp from both and let them use that fire&ioce attack of wich the name I forgot. But, of course, weaker than in the original game, as they had already damaged the foe twice. Umm, just some ideas.
There's plenty of new stuff. For example, I've implemented a new Element system ala Chrono Cross. You can equip an element to the slot, and you can learn techs from that elements color depending on your level. It's not permanent, however. So, in sections where you don't have Lucca and you need to fire tech, you can use the element on Glenn, or whoever you wish.

And which animations are you talking about if you don't mind my asking?

Nice work Lance. You can't always make everyone happy, but to a "True" CT Fan.. they will enjoy any hard work put into a CT game even if it doesn't feel like the actual game. Your games still have a good feeling of how Chrono Trigger felt. That's all that matters. But I am all up for new content any day.
Excuse me lance the game is currently on pause, I don't know if you could do something about it
