Dudesoft,
I have played your demos and your extra bonus twice. Keeping in mind I probably didn't have the right RTP resources for RM2k3 (although I tracked down any missing ones in my computer from other RM games to be able to play through), here is my feedback, mostly observations and comments, regarding each game:
For those playing the demos: WARNING, CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Take Down:
- I needed to add General1 to General5 CharSets files since that were missing
- Is the hero at the beginning supposed to be Donkey Kong Jr.?
- It was not my first time hearing the Cheers theme song in a RPG
- The hero just went through the door (nevermind what the fairy told him)
- I could walk almost anywhere in screen with Toad Boss and Slayman
- the sprites for your City Watch I have never seen before
- when asking CC "Who am I?" I got an "Event script referenced a hero that does not exist." message before the game crashed
- I didn't get what the deal with musicians was
- the musician mentioning the flute is playing what looks like a banjo
- I thought what you did with the lazy hero was funny
PoB
- Is HM wearing a toga?
- Did you draw the outside and foyer of suite church yourself?
- I found the choice of bright yellow for the church floor very interesting.
- MJ having green skin must be the most color he's had in about 3 decades.
- I found the dialog you wrote for MJ hysterical (can the dead not RIP).
- The Throne Background file was missing for the MJ fight.
- I found MJ leaving doing a little well known dance fitting.
- No, I have never seen HM nor Z & C.
Bonus
- The house Backdrop, animals CharSet and General2 FaceSet files were missing.
- Lion talks like Pooh when he's confused (I bet it was intentional!).
- Megaman.exe ... Adventures (kind of like Don's and Bill and Ted's).
- My fight looked nothing like the one image you posted (no Lion and Donkey Kong sprites, very different background).
- The thing with the phone brings back memories for me.
- In the fights with the Smelly Cat and the random encounter, the enemies had no sprites.
- I could walk into the darkened walls in the room with the Smelly Cat.
- I found 2003breath file missing when venom.exe is used in battle.
- I couldn't place the guy announcing the random attack.
- Did you really animate that scene at the end ...
- So I guess the frog didn't turn into a prince, after all ...
General (Common to All):
- Much of the music I found familiar.
- You got good facesets of the artists doing cameos in your game.
- What's the deal with all these TD games you have made?
- You probably need to include all the resources, for people who play your game to have the experience (graphical, audio, etc.) you expect them to even if the download is just slightly larger. In the first playthrough, once I found a missing file, I decide to try one of my RM2k3 RTPs, but ran into another one, so I tried another RTP. I still kept finding missing files. That's when I decide to search for them in other games. Apparently, keeping those RTP files messed things up because once I came to the Megaman.exe screen after playing TD first, most of the graphics where messed up, except the sprites of the characters. In the second playthrough, started the game as you posted it and added the missing files as I found them. Guess what? I didn't have that issue just mentioned.

First of all: Thanks for mentioning the missing files! I thought I tracked all that stuff down, but apparently not... I'll try to fix this and update the DL... Sorry!
-City Watch sprites were an edit I did for some guy back in the Game and Design era Gamingw.net. Sadly, I forget who did the original sprite work.
-it seems like I have a lot of work to do on this demo; if all those things are wrong. A lot of problems with merging two projects, let me tell you! Spent almost as much time fixing that as I had on the individual demos. (Really dumb in hindsight).
-For the Toad BOSS / Slayman part... I'll fix the walkable areas; and the sprite is Banjo-Kazooie... in this case, he's a filler sprite from one of the other charasets already included. I didn't feel like adding yet another charaset just to play as for 2 seconds. ;) Normally you'd be a sort of spirit during those segments between chapters.
-Again, thanks for this indepth and well structured feedback, it's really helpful.

-yes a toga, or some kind of robe to disguard before battle. I was thinking of doing a cutscene eventually for that, before her first battle with MJ. Maybe just a sprite animation.
-I "drew" the inside of the suite church, but treeghost drew the outside. You can't see it all in-game, unfortunately. The top where a cross would be is a blond kid's head.
-glad you enjoyed the MJ dialogue, there'll be lots more where that came from in the full game!

-the DK sprite in battle with the lion was one of Megaman.EXE's summons. Re-hash from a previous project.
-Again, argh to the game not having proper files. I probably screwed this whole thing up when I tried to "trim" the file size by deleting everything and going event-by-event to figure out what I -needed-. Argh, I say!
-the guy announcing the final battle was from Take Down Legacy, in the same fashion for the first battle. :D
-poor frog... He'll be alright someday.

-music/facesets will probably change twice before the final game product. I'm sorry this music was mostly what midi's I could find to keep the filesize down, rather than truly fit what was needed. :(
-I'll definitely fix this file and replace it before many others get a ruined experience with this thing...
The deal with TD games...
...I mostly make these games for my own enjoyment. At this point, I'm truly passionate about finding out what happens next. Take Down, is a re-build of the original game that was lost on an old computer... so that is more a pet project out of pride more than anything else. As for Pig of Benevolence, this is a closing chapter to Muscle Man's story arc that was left wide open after Lambs of Destiny. Muscle Man is also my outlet to ponder on philosophical questions in a fun, interactive way.
Long answer short: I enjoy making and playing Take Down games, that's why I make 'em. :D
Thanks for replying to the questions I posted. In particular, the last one was very enlightening. By the way, I did notice you have also a couple of TQFD games as well. Good luck getting these projects along!
Quest of Dude? Oh, that's a remake of a series me and my friends made on RM 95+ before we even knew about game making communities. Quest of Dude is only a quazi-remake actually. I pretty much rewrite it from the ground up, maintaining barebone ideas, names and a few story points. If I "remade" Dude's Adventure, it would be a whole other experience! :D
Dude games are mostly for me and a friend of mine, same with another game project I'm putting on hold until some of the others in progress are finished. It's great that other people play them, but my irl buds come first. Not sure if that's a bad thing or not...

Umm... I'm... I'm just confused. Someone explain the meaning of this game please...? Michael Jackson? Hanna Montanna?? Furby!? Help me out here please, this is NO normal Megaman.EXE game...

Yeah, sorry, my website is down. I don't know what the deal is and my webmaster won't respond!
Aw, that sucks.
It still doesn't work. 1 month later (!). I never got why people were putting their download on another site than RMN...
Here's an upload for Take Down and Pig of Benevolence

comment=29530Because I allegedly had a secure website that I had to post all my stuff. No idea why it's still down.
