An update??!!!

Hey folks! After a lengthy hiatus, I've decided to do some work on EJ again. I felt somewhat drained after the release last year, so I simply needed a break from this to focus on the other parts of my life. I'm sure a lot of you can relate!

In regards to the actual game, I'd like to get an update out before the end of December again, but we'll see. It's going to be a major battle mechanics update, so your old saves won't work right. :( Sorry! I'll also be tightening up some dialogue here and there, and if I have time, I may add a new area. I'll basically be reviewing some of the harsher criticisms and fixing what I think should be fixed. Part 2 is still in the back of my mind, but I need to clean up the rest of the game before I can work on it.

Some of the major changes to come:

-I'll be using rpg2003 Goliath, as it supports better battle percentage options.
-Characters may have physical skills (haven't decided how I want to do that yet)
-Spells will have individual names instead of Fire1, 2, 3, etc. Descriptions will be fixed reflecting each spell.
-Enemies won't cast status spells as often!

Sounds good. Glad to see you back to work on this!
I was happy to see an update. I actually replayed this about two months ago.
Another "quick" update:
I got a lot done over the weekend and so far this week. I've given characters physical techniques with placeholder animations, so if there's an enemy that's resistant to magic, players will have high-damage physical attacks to use. Expect around 2 physical skills from each character by the end of part 1, each with some kind of variation to make that skill unique.

Spells do a lot more damage & cost more (4MP as opposed to 2MP), enemies have more HP to compensate, and give away a little bit more gold so players will have more flexibility when it comes to buying things (like Eths). The writing has been smoothed out in a lot of the key cut-scenes, and I'm trying to fix as many spelling/grammar errors as I can find.

One of Craze's final complaints in his LT series was the scene between Athesis & Sparrow right before Firam. I felt the dialogue itself in that scene is what hurt it the most, so 90% of it has been cut. It now focuses more on what the characters are doing rather than what they can say to each other. It's got more of a natural feeling behind the scene now, without giving off a forced vibe.

I finished the Isis Tower last night, which I know was one of the other major complaints (which Craze didn't even get to thankfully). Enemies are a lot easier to a certain degree (less status changing spells, etc) thanks to better spell/technique balancing. Expect a larger focus on enemy's strengths and weaknesses.

Overall, I'd say battles are a lot more fun! I'm finding it asier to grind characters to higher levels without running too low on items or whatever, and doesn't feel as much like a "chore."

TL;DR: HYPE HYPE HYPE

I've got this Friday-Saturday off, so I'll hopefully be able to get even more work done then if I don't get sucked into Skyrim. :x
