You only ever fight one critter at a time in this game, even with a full party, so normal monster spawns can take a little longer than you're used to.

Circumstance penalty for being the bard.

This is pretty amazing.
looks like a coked out Dr. Seuss character.
My internet is at 1/4 speed (don't ask -_-;), so it took a while to load. As soon as I saw the eyes I was all "Huh. Grinch? Hmm..."
^.^
But it really does look good.
So far the tank character makes fun of him for looking like the Grinch, and also Oscar the Grouch :D That's just a placeholder background I grabbed from somewhere but they'll look pretty close to that.
Does it explode when it dies? If so, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
How can I not get this reference? Do I have to hand in my gamer union card? I wallow in shame. I'm liking that sprite though. I think he needs a big rake or something, to use like an afro pick.
Play Earthbound. Also the tree monster I showed pretty much trolls you into thinking it's a regular tree on the game map, but then it moves. ):

can't make a bad game if you don't finish any games

That is a Telefang 2 background. You fiend.
I just looked it up and you're right, you've got an *impressive* eye. And how could there be a Pokemon style game that I've never heard of before?! Is Telefang in english? I only found pics in japanese.

Anyway, I've only started one battle back so far. These Carniferous trees actually appear in a snow level (so he's REALLY going to read as the Grinch, yeouch) along with the deceptively cute Bunny Slopes and the negative space terrors that are Snow Angels.

Each zone's only got 2 or 3 enemies right now, since after the demo I'm trying to use spell animation PNGs to make them look like they're animated instead of just standing behind particle effects. That's actually the reason you only fight one at a time; in case I have to dupe the background into the spell animation, it won't overlap anyone else on the screen.

Since it's meant to be more a portfolio piece than a true game, at least at first, one enemy at a time also showcases the art a little more. Having two trees onscreen at once won't help me get more work; neither will changing the hue of a Gobbledygook to turn into a Butterball later in the game. But the portfolio focus ends after the first boss, and I'm building it chronologically. So after I hit that point, the depth and even the point to the game will actually change to something more, I guess honest is the word.
