Ellipsus is one of those moody psychological thriller games that are all the rage these days(although it falls pretty flat on its face). It focuses on atmosphere through game techniques rather than cinematic ones. It's only 5 minutes long, so why not give it a whirl?

The game features no cutscenes, with the characters acting out scenes while the player is still able to move. Please note that you are meant to be able to walk through characters, as otherwise the player would be getting in the way of the scene, and the scene would be getting in the way of the player.

There is a door, and a timer. You have to get out before the timer runs out. So why won't you open the door?

This game isn't very good, but it does have some ideas in it that I would love to see taken further by someone. Too many games these days rely on pretty things to build atmosphere, but as this is a game, I don't see why we'd choose such things over the actual mechanics of the game. Stuff like timers create a lot of emotion in the player.

I was going for a kind of "show don't tell" thing here which kind of fell flat because I had too many abstract concepts to share with the player. Whatever, please give it a go, leave a comment, maybe even a review. All feedback is appreciated.

The game downloads okay, but won't extract.
That's odd. It should be a zip. Just open the zip file and hit "extract all". You may want to check where it's going to.

I know at least 2 people have gotten it to work without a problem. What exactly is happening?
It extracts, but Game.exe doesn't run. There's an error sound, then it closes.
Do you have the RTP? I'm downloading it now to test the problem.

EDIT: Loads just fine for me, and 2 others. The whole sound error + closing sounds like what happens when you don't have the RTP though.
I don't have RTP. Too bad, not playing.
Normally I include RTP, but this was such a rush job anyway I didn't really care enough.
This game is kinda weird, but was nice to play ;p

Glad you enjoyed it!

What objects are these?
Yes, I have the RTP, but if you've done any sort of customizing to the RTP those need to be included in the download. Never had this trouble with any other games (RM2K, RM2K3, RMXP, or RMVX), this is the first I've ever seen it.
I think you need the .dll that comes with RMXP, which I would've included if I'd included all the RTP files I needed to make this standalone. So sorry on that one.
Giving this a try. Will review when I'm done, because every game deserves to have a review ;)

Um thank you but I really really hate this
I'm lost at the part where you give the helmet.

Edit: Never mind I finished the game.
