Progress Report

Moon Core on hold...

Long overdue announcement. This game is so buggy I don't even know what is going on in it at the point I'm at (in the playthrough). It's like being on some sort of hallucinogen while playing a game. I'm literally warping from map to map without so much as a text message to explain what's happening.

The reason behind this, of course, was that I had gotten completely sick of this game once I reached the halfway point of production, and got really lazy. That also explains why the game doesn't have an ending, or at least, not really. It has one of those cop out ones.

Anyways, I truly hope no one cares. You shouldn't, as it's just more beginner crap at its core. Still, I do hope to fix it up to a playable status some day.

Right now I'm going through my other old games for Slew of Oldies 2. I'm even planning of resurrecting a bunch of their gameplay elements for newer games, as the systems aren't as bad. Obviously I'm too busy with other projects to really delve into them now, but it's nice to have some weird systems in place for later.

FREE old RARE resources! Come get 'em!

Alright, so I have a whole bunch of old rm2k resources from my REALLY old computer (from whence the slew of oldies games were found), and there are some rare gems that, as far as I know, are no longer available on the net anywhere.

Most of these were taken from the old RM site GAMING GROUND ZERO, a site that used to have unlimited amounts of resources (much like charas project today). Anyways, I apologize for the badly named folders that you'll have to look through to see most of the images. Lots of the resources just came in zips back then, and I'm really just too lazy to organize it. Hell, I probably haven't even looked in some of them.

Moon Core - Log 1+ Slew of Oldies 2

I could have updated this a while back, so really this is both log 1 and 2. Anyways, I had hit a huge bug before that stopped me from progressing for a while, and now I'm sorta back on track. The game is pretty broken in some places, so my play through today didn't get me very far... but hopefully I can work m way through it more steadily now.

Anyways, the story is so jumbled that I've kinda stopped paying attention to it. It's a shame I never beta tested this before, as there are a bunch of party switching problems throughout that are really tedious to me at this point. I don't even know how the battle system works anymore, but luckily I've only run into one boss problem thus far.

Anyways, I think I'm about half through it. Expect it soonish.

I've also decided to release Boticade, but it will take me a long time to do so. The game is around 20 hours in all, and though it barely even resembles the Boticade novel I'm writing right now, I've decided to keep everything as is for the release. I'll probably get started on SLEW OF OLDIES 2 before it finally sees a release, but we'll see.

SLEW OF OLDIES 2
This project consists of a bunch of demos from my "middle years" with rpgmaker. They're more or less just cool little experiments that never saw full versions. There's a ninja game which is an action platformer, featuring a bunch of acquired skills like invisibility, teleportation, dash attack... it's a smoother action system than Moon Core has. Expanding on that system is a Dynasty Warriors type action rpg, which is extremely short and features some tactical battles as well. There is also a Sonic platformer game in rpg maker, which I didn't get too far in. It's frustratingly difficult, as it was too hard to do very well. I think I also have a spiderman swinging system, but it may have been deleted. I'll have to see.

Megaman RPG Release!

I know I said that I'd stop releasing these if RMN closed down, but in celebration of its failure to die, I'm releasing this game.

It's barely any better than the Dragon Creed games in terms of level design, and the encounter rate is utterly ridiculous, but it is straight forward enough and the story is coherent enough too (I think, I can't really remember).

I won't lie, Like Dragon Creed 2, I didn't edit this game at all or go back and play it. Maybe someday. This is it in its original raw form, so let's just hope there are no errors for those who wish to try it out. Anyways, I'll upload a main download for RMN right now. If you don't want to wait, use this:

Up next will be Moon Core, an action RPG with some very unfortunate battle problems. It does have some cool ideas though, which will be carried over for Fragile Hearts.

Dragon Creed 2- Release

I'll be honest. I didn't finish playing through this. I just uploaded it for whoever is interested, but there's a slight chance there may be a problem with the resources, so I may have to fix the download at some point.

Anyways, it'll be there for whoever is interested in the most undeserved, unwarranted, and unneeded sequel on the whole of RMN :)

Next up for my slew of oldies is Megaman RPG.

Dragon Creed II, Log 1

I know this game was finished, but it is riddled with bugs. Way more than even the first one, so it'll take a while before it will be available. Again, I'm not going to actually change anything, only make sure that it is playable without any game halts. It seems I tried to implement many changes and upgrades from the original Dragon Creed, but really these attempts just fall short of their goal. Not everything is RTP in this one, at least. There's some decent music (I'm not quite sure where it's all from), but there's still a lot of it in there. The game was made immediately after the completion of the first game, and probably during as well. It's not really better, I don't think. Again, probably a wasted download.

So for those 30 of you who decided to download the first one (p.s. I' don't know whether to thank you or apologize relentlessly), there isn't much new to be seen here. It's a lot more linear too, from the looks of my first (very quick) play of it. Playing the first game was a nice little blast from the past for me, but launching right into this one is actually putting me to sleep lol. I wouldn't expect it for a few more weeks.

Dragon Creed Released

The download isn't accepted yet, but I'm pretty tired and have nothing to do so I'm gonna go take a nap, so I'll probably miss it anyway.

I missed a couple of quests in my play through, including the introduction of a party member who just randomly started talking in some scenes. It was awkward. I decided that I wouldn't fix these things up though, there's no saving this game anyway. So for those of you interested to see it in its original, complete, shitty form, it hasn't been messed with.

The two changes I did make, however, were enemy balancing and teleportation fixes. There are like 50, 000 towns in this game to visit so I didn't exactly check all the teleports available. My suggestion is to save often, but you'll all probably quit after 5 mins or so anyway so I'm not worried for you lol.

I'm going back to work on Eden Legacy III tonight, and will continue to do so for the next few days before starting my play through of Dragon Creed 2.

Dragon Creed Log 3- Worst game ever.

This truly is the worst rpg experience ever created.
It's sad that I'm kinda proud lol. There are a few things that make this the worst piece of crap in rm history:

1- the story is incomprehensible. Makes no sense at all.
2- the maps are completely empty. Seriously. All of them.
3- I really didn't give a shit about making this fun.
4- While I was twelve when I made this, you'd think I was 7.
5- It's all RTP, and nothing fits any type of atmosphere I was trying to convey.
6- maps don't even have walls. You actually have to step on leaves to teleport to new areas.
7- The last monster was unbeatable. I'll change that before releasing it.

This game is seriously awful. I shouldn't even release it but I will anyway because I promised I would and it is pretty lolz at every corner. I can't even believe I made it to the end without quitting. Please only download if you are actually interested to see the worst game ever made.

Anyway, I finished my playthrough and it will be released very soon. I just need to try and make sure all the files are there and not suck in the rtp folder. Don't ask.

Dragon Creed Log 2- 90% optional quests

That's right, I've realized just why it is i put absolutely 0% effort into the design aspect of these dungeons and towns. This game is 90, probably even more like 95% optional. Of course I've forced myself through all there is so far (I'm 2 hours into my play through and just beat the first quarter of the game), but jeez.

Pretty much, as long as you can keep enemies from kicking your ass (which is now quite easy since I've reworked the balancing), you can skip as much as you want lol. Not that you'll know where to go or anything... I suppose that's the beauty of this awful piece of crap. You may be wandering for 2 mins, or you may wander for a two hours before finding the right island or cave to progress. There are dozens of towns and castles spread out, also very optional, that kinda help guide you too. Somehow I've managed to find my way, despite not remembering anything about this game.

It got me thinking about how this optional type thing could be done right, and I kinda wish Eden Legacy had more of that. Unfortunately, I didn't want to waste my time with all that optional crap. Oh well.

Anyways, I'll keep piecing away at my play through and maybe we'll see it online soon.

Dragon Creed Log 1

Wow, this game was bad lol. Certainly playable so far though. I just spent my first half hour with it. I want to keep it as true to the original as possible, so I'm not making heavy edits. I have had to deal with some balancing issues, however. The encounter rate is shit, but I'm gonna keep it like that because the islands aren't particularly huge or winding.

One thing I realized is that due to there being virtually no switches in this game, most places are completely optional (although somewhat worthwhile as they can mean getting special items and gaining levels). I'll be honest, I don't remember much about this game's story or anything. I just know nothing is really worth your while lol.

Anyway, I decided to start the play through a bit earlier than I thought I would. I may have it out by the end of the month. We'll see, it has almost 200 maps.
