We're not in AWZ anymore...

Hello players!
Return to Awz is a game that was made for the RMN 4th Birthday event by Illustrious, and the only game we've from this developer (unfortunately we do not even have a demo for the other three unfinished games). The game was made in 2011 and the task was making a game in 4 consecutive hours with the theme of "sequels that should never be made, but that we will make anyway". The game was supposed to be a sequel of Wizard of Oz, and I wrote "WAS supposed to be" because unfortunately Illustrious was able to produce only two maps and an epilogue. Sigh. But uh that's the risk with event games!

Now, for some reason the developer chose to change the names of the characters: Dorothy becomes Dorofie, Toto is Todough, the Wicked Witch is... nah still the Wicked Witch but of the SouthEast. Well uhm ok, that's not important since nothing of what was planned actually happens. So what was going to happen? Well the old companions of Dorofie were in trouble after they realized their dreams (for example the Lion that lose his cowardice became a bully looking for fights, the Tin Man that wanted a heart became too emotionally sensible and everyone took advantage of that), and the Wizard is in reality Don Miguel... but uhm ok!

We sadly did not get anything of this, just a series of dialogues (supposed to be funny, but I found them rather meh! One of the gag is for example changing how a name is spelled. Uhm, hilariuous isn't it?) and the music made by the developer's old garage band. That's... sigh let's just say id does not fit AT ALL with the game, for the rest I'll let your musical taste do the judgement. I quit.

This tale seems rather familiar to me!!!

Nah, sorry, I still have something to say: the graphics! The game uses RTPs only and while the developer claimed to possess the inability to create decent maps, I must instead admit that... the starting map is pretty bad, but STILL I've seen worse maps and it's not really terrible. I was ready to reconsider, when the part with the airship started and the cutscene glitched showing Dorothy/Dorofie walking below it. Uhmmm no please! I didn't want to bash this game. Well, "game" I'd rather say!

Final Verdict
Uh I hoped that while not a complete game, this was at least a funny cutscene or something to laugh at. Eh, unfortunately not, the music was unnerving, the dialogues weren't that interesting and the final Game Over screen was a final kick in the face! And that wasn't predictable since the game had an interesting menu screen with an unicorn and uhm Cloud Strife. Also the first map wasn't totally awful but then all fell apart. So, no rating, impossible for this 4 minutes... thing. Uhm. You've been warned!
