Is that Medusa? That would be a great optional boss battle. Will she turn you into stone with her glare resulting in a Game Over?
Those Medusas are regular enemies. In the original game I believe they did turn you to stone although that wouldn't result in a Game Over (that would be too big a punishment).
I didn't see the point in having two different movement restriction status ailments, so I made the cloud of smoke they spit here paralyze Misae, just like touching a ReconRat did in the Great Wall.

Paralysis isn't as bad here as it was in the NES game since enemies can't harm you when you're stopped. But they can still use that time to swarm you.
I see. That's a relief:) a game over is harsh. I'm pretty sure this dungeon is planned out well enough to be fair. Paralysis would be much better. Hopefully the boss pattern here is as good as the rest of them.

BTW, have you played Legacy of Y's 1&2 before? Its something like Crystalis except you just run into enemies to attack them instead of slashing a sword.
Ys is one of my favorite series of all time :)
The first game I played was Wanderers from Ys on the SNES. The game made a strong impression on me and I bought Ark of Napishtim on the PS2 many years later. I then played Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin on PC, both being two of the greatest games I've ever played. Then I've played the first Ys on the NES and the DS remake Legacy of Ys: Books 1&2. I am currently waiting for a rumored PC port of Ys Seven.

As you might have guessed, I take a lot of inspiration from the Ys series to make this Crystalis remake.
Wow! I had a strong feeling you had played the Y's series before. It's one of my favorite series as well:) I'm dying to play y's seven though. Anyway, the reason I asked is because the boss patterns are very well thought and they can be rather difficult without extreme concentration. Your game reminds me of a mixture of both Y's and Crystalis. Keep it up.
