Death and memories

Now I've finished most of the map making I've been working on the more interesting stuff. I've been making death scenes for students that you don't save in time. You have the option when you start a new game whether to view these scenes or not. If you choose not to, you just get a message on screen every time a student is killed. Although the scenes are based on the book or movie, you can change the story by saving certain characters (or killing them earlier).

I also wanted to include flashbacks for the main characters in a way that would add more story but wouldn't get in the way. I'm thinking of having 3 or 4 objects for each character around various locations, and when you interact with them it activates a flashback and gives the player a new skill of some kind (as an incentive to hunt down and find these objects). For example, you can find a guitar in one abandoned house that reminds Shuya of playing illegal rock music at school. What do people think about this? And is there anything you think it'd be cool to incorporate into the game?
