Tic-Tac-Toe for RPG Maker. That's about it.

Liberty says on the homepage that this is the first game he ever finished. I can appreciate its value as an exercise in programming custom gameplay, but it's really not worth downloading since the game is exactly what it looks like: Tic-Tac-Toe for RPG Maker. (Liberty calls it by its delightful English-ism, Naughts-and-Crosses.)

I doubt Liberty has high hopes for this game, and I was wondering whether it's even worth reviewing, but I'm doing it anyway on the grounds that any sort of feedback ought to be useful for the game creator.

The game keeps score for two players and lets you choose from a variety of background music. There's no choice to play against an AI opponent, so there's really nothing to elevate this game above a normal game of Tic-Tac-Toe with paper and pencils. At least gameplay is bug-free, except for the fact that X's on the board don't have centres. (You can see that in the screenshot.) The coin flipping to decide who goes first is a nice touch.

Bizarrely, you can choose from a variety of background images in the menu, but it makes no difference since the background doesn't show up on the game board.

I gave this game 2/5 since it does what it's supposed to do, but it's really not worth downloading. This game would be better suited to be integrated into a full RPG as a mini-game, since there's not enough about it to justify its existence as a stand-alone game. And Liberty would probably agree. I'd suggest checking out his other games instead: http://www.rpgmaker.net/users/1013/games/

My rating: 2/5

Thanks for the review, Gibmaker, and I totally agree that it's pretty worthless as a stand-alone. I was going to make it into a minigame for an RPG, but decided naught (not) to. ^.^

Thanks again for giving it a try. (I'd never even expected a review for it. >.<)
