It's surprisingly functional, for 2k3 at least.
As a bonus, if you find it frustrating and can't beat it, after some amount of failed attempts you have the option of skipping it.

That's a great touch that not enough games implement nowadays
Reminds me of that mine cart stage in Donkey Kong Country. If it is just like that, then I desperately need to play this game.
