COMING SOON: Dragon Breeder + An Update on Infinity 4 + Other Updates

Hello everyone! I have some big news!

The next game I am developing, has an official name.. a logo.. and a teaser site.. Dragon Breeder.

Plot Idea: From the creator of the Infinity RPG Series, comes an all new adventure.. Dragons are scaring the citizens in the nearby town! Lucky for them, you are the boldest (or stupidest) newest resident in town. You decide to hunt down the dragons in the dungeons, and capture them as your own! Collect all of the dragons, and watch them roam around your massive abandoned hideout. Breed them using a breeding machine, and come up with different color combos. Talk to your butler Alfred, and learn the basics of dragon breeding. And when you are not hunting down and capturing dragons, roll into town to upgrade your equipment. Talk to patrons in the bar. Play some minigames. Go fishing. Even.. date. Dragon Breeder is part RPG, part Dungeon Crawler, part Open World adventure.

The game is currently in development, and could be released as early as this year. If not, it will be in early 2014.

An official RMN page for Dragon Breeder will be launching soon.

Update on Infinity 4 or Infinity IV

I know I've said in the past I was waiting for a new RPG Maker engine to create the next Infinity game, but.. that may take forever. Or it may never happen. I am happy to announce that Infinity 4 (or a possible new styled title, Infinity IV) is in early development. I have some ideas on how to make this game feel "next generation" (as in RPG Maker, next gen). Right now I am in contact with some other developers, to see if we can make this happen. So for now.. know that a new Infinity game could be coming. Look for it in 2014.

As for my thoughts on it.. well.. I can tell you this.

Infinity will take the next step. Infinity will be leaving the country, and heading into the city. Grand Theft Auto style. Infinity IV will possibly feature a city, and the gameplay will focus on being a criminal. That's all I can say for now. More to come!

Update on the Unnamed Open World RPG

In my last blog post, I sort of announced a new open world RPG. The idea was to break off from the Infinity series, with a new kind of game. But after developing about 25% to 50% of it, I realized how many of the new elements in the game would be perfect for Infinity. So the game is officially cancelled for now. I will likely combine elements of that game into the next Infinity game. So technically, it's not being lost for good.

Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to tell you more about Dragon Breeder, in the coming weeks. :)

[Teaser] The Town is Being Constructed..

Hello everyone! I have some real exciting news to announce! I have begun creating my next game.. once again, an open world RPG.

I will not reveal much yet, but this game will not be in the Infinity series franchise. It will be a new game, based on a video game from a series I played thoroughly during my teenage years.

This will not be a fangame. It will however, take inspiration from a commercial series.

So what is the game you ask?

.. Animal Crossing. My next game will be inspired, by Animal Crossing. But there will be some huge differences. The game will be more mature, and will feature people rather than animals. Randomized conversations will be featured, allowing you to have around 5 different conversations with each NPC. And there will be plenty of them. You will be able to fish, talk, trade, collect, and explore one massive world. One map. With no loading or teleporting to other outside environments. Almost like the first Infinity. Fly a plane, control a ship, and walk the world on one map. Make money by fishing, growing tomatoes (an Infinity 3 staple), collecting other citizen's junk, and more. How about unlocking new parts of your town? Unlocking a weather machine? All sorts of goodies will be thrown in.

Will there be monster battles? I'm not sure. The game is still in early development. More information will be coming soon though!

I can't wait to reveal more, and the name of the new game! Comments, suggestions, and questions welcome! :)

Interview with the creator of Infinity

Weeks ago I was interviewed by sbester for the Series Master! interviews.

In the interview, I talk about the series as a whole, and the future of the series.

Idea: Infinity Online (Announcement & Poll)

Hello everyone,

As will be revealed soon in an interview with RMN member sbester, the future of the Infinity series will be mostly based around when and if a new version of RPG Maker will be coming. With the reveal of the RPG Maker DS graphic set for VX Ace, I believe we could see a release of the next RPG Maker within a year or so. I likely would do a fourth entry in the series only with a new RPG Maker program.

I've also expressed interest in making Infinity 3D, and Infinity Online, as sort of "dream" projects in the future. Infinity 3D might never happen, but I have come up with an idea for Infinity Online.

Naturally creating an online MMO requires many things. Mostly a dedicated server. Things simply out of my reach. It would be too complicated, hence why most hobbyist-built MMOs never make it.

However, I am interested in a different kind of game. Imagine an Infinity Online, as a website, built around a forum. It would basically be a roleplay forum, with subforums acting as the different cities and areas in Infinity 3. Members of the forum create characters, can earn virtual currency, awards, and maybe even buy items using the virtual currency.

It would be a forum, with the feel and graphics of Infinity 3. Probably avatars would match sprites and graphics from the game. It would bring the world of Infinity 3 to life, with members telling the stories of their characters, interacting with others, and maybe even being apart of a major forum-wide storyline. The forum game would also sport seasons, weather, etc.

It's an idea, and I'd love feedback from RMN.

Please post either Yay, or Nay. Also leave any other comments or suggestions you might have.

I appreciate it. Thanks. :)

Version 2.0 has been released. It's the latest, final (except minor updates) version of Infinity 3. I dropped the Region at War subtitle, since most of those elements will not be in the game. I may continue development with a DLC pack at some point, but mainly I just wanted to finish the game, and release all the updates. New buildings, new NPCs around the game, bug fixes, and more.

Version 2.0 is the largest update in the game's history.

All save files from 1.0, and 1.1 are compatible with 2.0 and above. Just replace all the files in the original folder, keep your saves, and load up the game. To make sure you are running the latest version, check which version by looking at the left hand corner of the game window on the title screen.

Version 2.0, and the Last Release

Hello everyone. Region At War, the highly anticipated DLC release for Infinity 3, will officially be version 2.0. It already contains many updates, bug fixes, and tweaks. From a casino, to the removal of the alignment bar.

However, I've decided to change the Region at War elements. There is too much that would need to be done. It will be the same DLC, with some different stuff. Hence the deletion of some of the screenshots.

I've decided that this will be Infinity 3's final release. Sure, if there are some more bugs reported or glitches, I will patch it. But the main game will be officially complete.

Ever since I started with game development, I always wanted to make a massive open world game. And Infinity 3 met that goal, with flying colors. With the largest game world I ever made, I knew I could do it.

With that being said, open world games are not easy to develop. Specifically with a one man team. It becomes complicated when you have such a large world to fill up, and work on.

Any future games I make would probably be more linear, with elements of an open world.

As for Infinity 4, I may make a 4th game in the series once a new RPG Maker engine is released. For now, Infinity 3 is the last game in the series.

The next update will be arriving soon. It won't be perfect, but it does add more to complete the game.

Further Development News

Hello everyone,

Sorry for not posting lately. With college, and other things going on in my life, I've been really busy. I haven't worked on Infinity 3 much, even though I have a semi-complete update stored on my PC. I would release the update, but it's not in a complete state. All the new features, like the pawn shop, new maps, removal of the alignment bar, and other updates will eventually all be released.

I won't be making the Halloween deadline. I will release the updates soon, maybe sometime in November or December. For now, I hope everyone enjoys the current game. And anyone is more than welcome to make their own mods, and post about it here on the Infinity 3 page.

I'll post every so often, and check back. And soon, once I feel like working on the game again, I'll release some updates.
