A good sidequest!

While I was "in search of games to play" I found this one!"In Search of Clues" is a spin-off/prequel of "In Search of Dragons". Ok, I admit that I never played this second game (YET!), but being this a prequel I guess it will make no difference!
This game is a short (30 minutes) adventure game about infiltrating a library, or better, an arcane library. To find a book of course, a book about dragons, no less! In this game we play as Keith, a veteran mercenary that is hired by Owen, a young man obsessed with dragons and will have a hard time babysitting this short-tempered guy!

As mentioned before this is an adventure game, so expect no combat and no risk of gameover because the game automatically saves after each section. But what are these different sections? Clearly you can expect stealth parts, since the two have to infiltrate the arcane library and access one of the most protected levels, but this is just the beginning! Later they will have to cross some areas where some parts of the floor are quicksand. Yeah, thats weird, but this is exactly one of the first obstacles once entered the place, and I won't tell you how to survive!

Oh-oh... quicksand in the library!

Then there will be some dark corridors with giant eyes that act as sentries. Luckily it's dark, but you have a lantern, but you don't want to be seen, oh what a dilemma! Good luck here too, and especially later when you will face the last two sections combined! Yeah, quicksands + dark areas and eye-sentries!
Ok there are a couple of tasks and events more that will happen during this short (30 minutes) adventure but I won't spoil the fun to discover and solve them!

This little comedic adventure begins and ends with a letter written by Keith to his sister, where he tells a bit about his adventures with Owen. This is a lighthearted well written story, and despite being short it keeps the player occupied with funny dialogues and encounters, some choices, and maps that are little puzzle games.
Graphically from what concerns this games for what I see there is a lot of use of Rtp, but these are well utilized, maps are also well proportioned and detailed, and there is an excellent use of lightning effects, even if each one of these rooms is just a little "puzzle" (well, sort of!) and nothing more. This doesn't mean that there is no exploration or liberty to move, but this is a short linear game, anyway descriptions and interactions do exist.

Hmmmm a really difficult choice!

Final Verdict
If "In Search of Dragons" will be the main quest, this is a great little side quest. I especially liked the dialogues, and how Keith and Owen are so well characterized despite the shortness of the story. But let's not forget the amusing dialogues of the guards, this is lot of fun.

There is also a cool achievement system, if you want, anyway I did not try it and I had fun, maybe with some other little additions and more tasks it could have been a more varied, longer game and a truly memorable experience, but it's still quite good also as a stand alone experience (even if I'm pretty sure that "In Search of Dragons" sees the return of the two protagonists). 3.5/5 for me!
Try it, it's pretty easy and you may like this game like I did!

Another review! Thank you for taking the time, I know how long it takes me to write reviews and mine are less detailed than yours.

Really pleased you enjoyed this, it was the first time Indrah and I teamed up, so it's a bit special to me. As for In Search of Dragons, the demo is really outdated and a lot of the story has been re-written following the rest of the Arum games. I don't know if Indrah will finish it.

I did the puzzles, including the quicksand in the library, we were just throwing all the ridiculous secuity ideas we had. Probably was a bit silly, but hopefully its justified once you learn the library's secret at the end.
Heyyy... Oh well I admit I play and review games but I seldom look at the devs, not to makje differences! :D aha this was a nice short adventure and I like the idea, I mean, no combat and some cool short but easy puzzles. Silly but funny, I mean it's a lighthearted game after all!
