A boy and his wolf... a very short tale

Hi!
Welcome to Sorrow Moor, an enchanted land. This game was made with RPG Maker VX Ace by Snakins, author of a couple of games I played before, Lost in the Woods and Rainbow Ron Saves SpriteTown, two pretty short and linear complete games that use the default rpgmaker combat.
Guess what? These games have lot in common with Sorrow Moor, but probably this game is longer and with more dialogues even if it will not take more of 15-20 minutes.

The story is about a boy named Pierce that find himself in a strange world, and no there is no explanation nor prologue. That just happens and he's welcomed by a wolf called Wolf (able to talk and climb stairs!) that will assist him during his adventure. And he tells him that he will escort him to meet the oracle. This is a strange talking rhombus that says that Pierce is for some reason the pretestined hero that can save Sorrow Moor if he will defeat the beast. That's all!

And as someone said... "do or do not. There is no try!"

At this time we've already halfway, then our friend Pierce, that's logically insecure and reluctant, has to collect the Quicksilver blade and the Star Light (not sure why since it's apparently useless) that will be found ringht in the middle of his path.

In any case there are monsters: the game uses classic rpgmaker random encounters (exactly like Lost in the Woods and Rainbow Ron Saves SpriteTown) but fortunately it's pretty easy to avoid every encounterm anyway I suggest to avoid doing that, in order to get some levels, unlock useful abilities (Pierce's strong attack and Wolf's healing power) and get some money that can be used at the totems to buy healing items and other consumables. That's it. Luckily enemies are rather weak, including the occasional mid boss and the final opponent.

Speaking about sounds and music the game uses the usual RTP assets, even if there are some areas that are pretty silent, on the other hand the graphics are a mix of custom and edits. The sprites are stylized and used a sepia tone, and monsters seems to be original, anyway it's al pretty simple including mapping. I admit that from these pictures I expected something more, the game in fact would be lackluster it it used just the usual RTPs. At least I did not find errors or problems with it.

Uhm, I am not sure that Pierce is the right boy for this job. Well naaa, this is a pushover!

Final Verdict
The developer never fleshed out this project, and that's a pity because the beginning and ending are pretty much non-existent: there isn't a real explanation about what's going on, who is Pierce and why he's here, nor where is he going. The game is pretty shallow considering almost every aspect, the graphics, musicm, story and gameplay, and it's obviously the developer's first game, but I admit I played much worse. It's a pity the base idea was good, if there were more cutscenes and dialogues the game would have been more enjoyable for sure.
