The Legend of Jak is a tale about pirates. Take control of Jak, a young man who's dreams of becoming a pirate are about to come true as he is thrown head first into an epic adventure. Explore the land, crawling through dark caves and dense jungles. Or take to the sea and explore distant lands, plundering treasure as you go.

Drawing inspiration from games like The Legend of Zelda and Secret of Mana. The Legend of Jak is a fast paced action RPG with difficult combat and challenging puzzles. There's also plenty of new weapons and items to help you along your quest and are also used to complete puzzles.

Story:
The Empire have been cracking down on piracy for many years now, bringing their own brand of swift justice to all who associate with pirates. Now, they look to wipe out piracy all together with their new fleet. Pirates, however, are rather cunning and resourceful, and there are still places in the world that would rather the company of pirates then biding by the barbaric and naive laws of the Empire.

Jak, an ordinary boy who has long dreamed of becoming a pirate, finally gets his wish when he joins the crew of Captain Barret, who is well respected among pirates. After many long days and nights of scrubbing decks, Jak finally gets a taste of action as the crew go off in search of treasure.
However, with the Empire right on their tail, and a new, even greater threat lurking in the darkest depths of the ocean, this is bound to be one adventure Jak will never forget!

Demo bug fix!

I have just fixed the bug that prevents you from pushing the boulder in the mine making it impossible to progress.
If you have the old version, simply download the new version 2.2 demo and copy your save file from the old demo.

It was fun play testing for you since you liked my feedbacks, but I don't really play games (haven't for more then a year now, there are few exceptions). I try them out, figure out what its all about and how it works and all, and then move on, unless the games very short, 2 hours max..

I will still be subscribed, and keep the save files. May be I will give it another whirl after its complete, possibly not.

PS: In the not so far future how would you like to collaborate on a dragon ball real time action game with me using the XAS battle system. Just a thought.

I just played through the demo. It's enjoyable at its core, but needs some significant polishing.
I mentioned the font issue in one of the screenshots. If you find out what it is, and it doesn't turn out to be one of those annoying copyrighted commercial fonts, feel free to include it in download. Installing a new font is the norm in newer RPGMakers.

Otherwise, I made a small list of stuff.
-Items could use more creativity in their naming. Rum is great as a health restorer, but Magic Potion and Antidote are not pirate'y at all.
-The area names (when I enter) start with the first few letters off the left side of the screen. For example, Training Grounds became 'aining Grounds'. This might be related to the font issue though.
-A CMS would be a good idea. Some of the stats are irrelevant and don't belong on the status screen (eg. agi). Also, having Formation blacked out is completely pointless.
-A few maps have exits hidden by the character stat bars/tool boxes. It's a minor nuisance the way its been handled so far, but it'd be a bum deal for a player to walk through a dungeon over and over, only to find the next area in the bottom right corner, hidden by his bombs.
-The card game needs an explanation. I figured out the gist of it, but it looks like there's a lot I'm not getting.
-Is the first slash supposed to be useless? I only ever seem to do any damage/knockback with the 2nd and 3rd.
-I know you intended for the mine to be dark, but I have a viciously bright monitor and I still had to lean and squint from time to time. Might want to tone it down just a tad. Alternatively, add more lamps with larger fields.
-I accidentally skipped over the mine boss' explanation on how to throw bombs and couldn't figure out how on my own. Is it not supported yet?
-Minor nitpick : When Jak attacks, his bottom left portrait shuffles left a pixel. It's not a severe distraction; just noticeable.

I have a hard time believing that pirates would go around playing nerdy card games, but whatever, I'm a nerd and I liked it. Looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

I'm glad your enjoying it. Alot of the things you mentioned were a result of rushing to get it out for RSW in time.
I've put the HUD items to the bottom right corner so they no longer block the view.
I hate the map name thing it's been a nightmare just trying to find a good one to replace it. Also looking for a custom menu.
I agree the items could use more thought....
Bombs can be thrown by pressing z after placing one.
I never really noticed the 1st slash thing I'll take a look.
I only just got the card game in there in the last minute so it's still WIP I will do a short tutorial. As for why pirates play with cards... Well they're pirates, they do what they want haha!
And the font is default so it's not commercial I will include it in the next download along with alot of fixes and polish.

Damn....now I cant find the STONE or THE key. I must be missing something.
Version 2.1 is it worth d/l and transferring version 2 onto? I tried and it only starts w/o a continue even after putting the save files into it. Otherwise i am just going to go back and continue what Ive done in the old one....gone too far to start all over again unless theres a major change in storyline, etc to be had.
The main updates for the new demo are the graphics I've comPletely remapped the sacred cave and the mine, they look much cooler now, and the mine has a new boss it's much bigger and better. Apart from that it's pretty much the same so it's up to you, but you won't miss any story line stuff.
During the trial I had a boulder knock me on to the black hole and was stuck. The holes in the floor.
EDIT: Barrel that has feather can walk on mountain right above it.

Anyone have the answer to this. I cant see any way move it other than forward where it stops and wont budge.
I'm not sure where you mean can you post a screen shot of it? It could be that you have to move the blocks a certain way...
dont know how to make a screen shot. and yes they have to be moved a certain way...but the last block wont move all the way in so that I can pull the switch....its where the rail car has to be moved onto the switch.
I think I know where you mean. Try push the left block up then then the right block right and then you should be able to push th second row.
exactly....thats what i have been doing. but on the last block you can only push so far to the left them it stops. you still dont have room to pass it to get to the switch.

nope....go try it. the last boulder seems to stop at the little flame or object there. it will only rotate in place.
