Breath of Fire 0

The day of the demo's release draws near. In anticipation of it, and to satiate my beloved subscribers, here's a rundown of the main cast of the story. Fairly spoiler-free descriptions of how they all get involved with the story, and the reasons you'd want to have them in your party.

Feel free to speculate about their significance to the plot and comment on their looks.



From left to right:

Ryu
Our mute protagonist suffered a great tragedy in his childhood. He joins a guild thinking he can't amount to much else but running errands and killing monsters, but he quickly becomes involved in affairs that send him off on adventures.
Ryu can't leave the party, and why would you want him to? He's really strong and tough, typical hero syndrome stats.

Cybil
This Woren lady joined the guild to do good for people and spread smiles. She is assigned to work with Ryu, and the two get together amicably on their quests.
Unlike most of the Woren clan, Cybil is not much of a fighter, she's a healer. As such she's a great addition to any party.

Debora
A mute woman who tries to communicate via music. She becomes the object of one of Ryu and Cybil's missions, and so has to travel with them.
Debora is no fighter. She has very low attack and HP, you might wanna use all your Life Shards on her. However, her attack hits all enemies and she can play a lot of songs that inflict negative statuses on enemies and some songs that are beneficial to the whole party.

Nina
The princess of Windia has something in common with Ryu, and so she joins him to do something she feels is more meaningful than being second in command of her nation.
Nina specializes in offensive magic, making her the best choice when it comes to damaging multiple enemies at once. If you know the elemental weakness of a boss, she will make short work of them.

Allon
The grassman's plight is to travel the world, accumulate knowledge, share it and preserve it. When Ryu and company search him out for advice, he becomes intrigued with Ryu and Debora and wishes to follow along.
Allon is a jack of all trades, master of support magic. He can boost the stats of party members and decrease the stats of enemies, and you'll find eevn some bosses can be rendered harmless this way.

Ekaru
This soldier of the creeping clan is ordered by his king to assist Ryu on his quest, and Ryu can only agree to the terms to further his mission.
Ekaru is a tank. He's slow, he has no magic, but he has a massive defense and lots of HP. And maybe a trick up his sleeve or two.

Morton
Morton of the dirt-eating clan is sought out by the party on a mission, and he finds himself in a hard spot with little choice but to trust Ryu.
Morton is 5x as likely as anybody else to land a critical hit. He also knows some unique earth elemental spells.

Teucer
For a brief time he was Ryu's mentor. A higher ranking warrior of the guild, he runs into Ryu later when their different missions take them to the same places.
Teucer is a legendary archer. Armed with a bow and arrow he has the highest attack of the party, though his defense leaves something to be desired. He knows a few skills suited for taking down particular kinds of monsters.
