Given that this project is a series-specific fangame, it only makes sense that the music within the game would exclusively be MIDI-adaptations of the music from the series to which it pays tribute. Such was always the intention, but there were some challenges in that I have no relevant musical talent to speak of to recreate these songs, and there aren't that many MIDI files readily available on the internet, and the quality of some of them can be questionable.
However! Almost all of the songs from Breath of Fire 1 & 2 that weren't on vgmusic.com (and some that were but sounded bad in my opinion) have been made into MIDI thanks to Anthony D! That is to say, 36 new MIDI files have been created for this project!
You are free to download, share, and use these MIDIs in your own games! Do whatever you like with them, except claim authorship! For the time being, you can get them all at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86278419/BoF%20MIDI%20by%20Anthony%20D.zip
(I would submit them all to vgmusic.com, but the FAQ, submission process, forum and bug report form are all dead links.)
With these additions to the sound palette, it will be easier to build a richer world. They say that in movies, sound is 60% of the experience while visuals are 40%. I don't know if that's true for games, but these new sounds will certainly help set the right mood and atmosphere that no other song could have done.
