Not The Way I want it!

I've heard great things about this game! GREAT THINGS! So for my first review I thought I should try a game that many people seem to love. Boy did I make a mistake!

Story: The story is one of the things I liked about this game. It is so deep and so dark that the only reason to play it is for the story itself! Rhue has a mysterious past and it unfolds throughout the game. It also has murderers, monsters, bandits, and people drunks! One of my favorite laughable instances is the bar scene at the small settlement at the beggining. It is hilarious!.

Graphics: The graphics were actually pretty good. You would have to see it because it is hard to explain. It is like a painting. The water is was kind of bad though. I guess since the backrounds are like paintings the water was still too. The only movement was these small effects.

Gameplay: You'd think with the graphics plus the story would make the game worthy of at least four stars. Well the gameplay brought that rating WAAAY down! Okay so basicly you walk around, have duels, and fight. I guess this wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so damn repetitive.

Sure the duels are something new and special but its like rock paper scissors! There is no certain way to know that you are going to hit. I found myself getting bored. You have three basic attacks and each one can be beaten by another and can beat another. Even if you choose the right one it doesn't gaurantee that your going to do more damage.

Regular fighting can be completly avoided and it its in the first person view. It looks good. However fights can be completley turned off. You can also skip every minigame and turn puzzles on easy. So basicly all you'd have left is the graphics and story which is the saving grace of this game.

Overall: This game is okay but I expected more from how much people adore this game. I guess I set unreasonably high expectations because of that. Well I guess this game deserves a 3 for the story and graphics.

Arguably one of The Way's biggest flaws is that you don't start winning plunges until about the second episode. From there on the system becomes a lot more complex and interesting, although admittedly I've never gotten into it.

Anyway, the second episode is where things get really good, so go on and play the next one! Almost everyone I've heard of who doesn't like the first episode likes the second episode onwards (except for maybe the sixth).
I hope that you'll keep playing, it gets WAY better.
I'll continue playing thanks for the advice.
I quite enjoyed the battles and the puzzles.
