This party's dead, anyway

Halloween is coming soon, isn't it? Ok, so let's play another game about ghosts!
Ok, this time we have Ghost Party, and it's an adventure game about a ghost trapped in a mansion.
It has few memories, he just lives there and spends his time talking to bats... and to a medium, that's the only person who can see and talk to him, other humans won't even notice his presence.
Anyway our friendly ghost can also collect items and put them in his fanny pack, and there are a lots of things that can be collected in the mansion (even if it's just made of a corridor and in rooms, plus the graveyard in the back, so a total of ten maps). This is an adventure game so the rule is "collect everything since it may be useful sooner or later!".

And then BAM! Disaster happens and someone dies! Seems that there is a serial killer in he mansion but who is him/her? Then our friendly ghost will start his quest to figure out who is the killer and save as many humans as possible (a bit odd since he can interact only with bats and ghosts, so more friends are necessary to make a real... Ghost Party!). Or not, well there are three different endings to this spooky (but not too much) adventure!

YES, OR IT *MAY BE* VIRGINIA'S MURDER!

As said before Ghost Party is an adventure game or a big series of fetch quests (or in some rare cases you need to use an item on a particular spot) in which you have to collect items and delives to some bats or ghosts and earn other items that are wanted by someone else, and go on.
This would be simple if it was not for 1) the total absence of hints (even if in some cases the items are found in locations where it's logical to find them, like food in the fridge to make an example!) and the presence of items also in some locations that look uninteresting (but it is true that often these items are also trash not useful to progress the story) and 2) the extreme sssslllllooooowwwww speed of the protagonist that canno run but just walk around slowly. And he will have a lot of walk to do, also because the various character will change their location after each death, so you will have to explore and learn where they moved.
The music does not help easing the pain of the slow walk because it's good but very repetitive and monotonous. Sigh.

Anyway there are also some good aspects: the game looks good with its original cute graphics and blue tint. The ghosts are also transparent (but despite that they cannot go through items or creatures) and that's a little nice detail. Oh well there are lots of tiny little details in this game, and lots of interactions with almost every item present in the house (I was just puzzled that one of the night tables has NO interaction, not even a line of description, and that's probably an oversight since everything else can be interacted!).

Pity that for the rest the game is ok but nothin else, I mean it's not a game I think I would replay even if the ending I got shed no lights on the killings: I was able o stop the killer and save some people but... who was him/her? Why he/she was killing people? What's the story behind the mansion? Nah nothing at all, just a final congratulations ending scene but no explanation. Or did I miss something?
Well I cannot endure the slow walk and the repetitive music no more, so... that's the end for me!

WHO IS THIS GUY? WHAT DOES HE WANT? PLAY AND SEE!

The Final Verdict
Ghost Party toom me one hour to finish and just because I was stuck, unable to find a particular useful item (an electric blanket) that was mandatory to progress. I'd probably finish it in 20 minutes now that I know what it's needed to do, so it's not a long game and it's also a largely linear one, except for the ending part that can lead to different epilogues.
This is not a terrible game, graphics are unique and good, mapping is ok, and dialogues are in some cases humorous and funny (of the many characters present I liked a lot the medium!). For other aspects it's an ok game, maybe with a faster walking speed and some more logical tasks it would have been a classic. My idea is to give a try, if you can endure the flaws I mentioned earlier!

Goodbye!
