Miscellaneous

Withered Reason

This repeated age of oppression
and secret death,
of family succession
and mindless obsession

When the powerful
have the power
to silence
and sweep

The foundations of the human soul
into violence
and eternal silence

The sun will rise
over a ruined dawn,
unwilling to hide the scraps
of human life
led down the path
of righteous revolution

Breaking the chains
of life-draining excess,
in an age of withering reason
where logic
and love
mean nothing
but romantic musings
of a broken resolve

Lest the mighty
rise to the top
and destroy their pyramids
from the bottom-up
The world will remain
in the shadow of ignorance
and slowly decay
into the light of day.

Regarding Withered Reason Demo

It has come to my attention that there was an RTP file that wasn't included in the file database for the Withered Reason Demo. While I cannot do anything at the moment about it I will address the issue ASAP.

Until then, the game can be played by simply installing RPG Maker 2003 onto your PC. I will fix this issue as soon as I am able to, thank you for your understanding.

Project: Arcadium Second Playthrough Test Commencing

Hi, RPG Maker Community, I've initiated the second playthrough test in anticipation of Project: Arcadium's demo release. After fixing multiple bugs of the major and minor variety, I'm going through a second time just to make sure none slipped through the cracks.

As a bonus, I just implemented a new function into battle. I won't spoil it for you, but what I will say is that it relates directly to what I mentioned before about a Golden Sun-like weapon skill system.

If all goes well, I should have this demo out my Saturday, Sunday at the latest. Until then, keep yourself glued to your chair, cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride...

What is Project: Arcadium?

If you 'Like' Project: Arcadium on Facebook at: facebook.com/projectarcadium, then you'd have known that my intention is to shed some light on details surrounding this project in lieu of the screenshots I uploaded today being somewhat delayed. Here goes nothing:

Project: Arcadium is a currently unnamed RPG project I started in 2011. I took an extended hiatus of two years and I'm serious about development again. In that time, the story has gone through tremendous changes. When I began the project initially, the story was only referenced to in selected segments, and while it was in development I didn't have a solid idea of where it was going. Somewhere in those two years of waiting I gained a lot of inspiration, and the story finally has a direction.

Project: Arcadium is based in a world similar to our own with a few major differences. Of course, people don't use magic, but to add some realism I decided to make it a force of technology, even going so far as to explain how it works. Aside from that, the parallels are close to modern society in terms of what the player encounters. All bosses thusfar are human, not monster, the monsters encountered are creatures like snakes and birds, while the more dangerous enemies are boars and such.

Story-wise, this will be a story that attempts to draw seamless parallels to the issues we face today, including poverty, class divisions, entitlements, and such, and how these affect our everyday lives.

I consider myself so a radical when it comes to reality, and I hope to pass on my knowledge of the world through an entertaining medium.

I hope that helped expand upon your understanding of Project: Arcadium, remember to 'Like' Project: Arcadium on Facebook @ facebook.com/projectarcadium

Progress Report

Progress Report Uno

Hello, RPG Maker community-types, this is an official progress report from my job's back office. After completing the area of my game known as Yerbhet Peninsula, I've started making Project Arcadium's first town area, Calrena. Calrena is a port town on the northeastern side of Lockshallow Island, a small dominion of the Imperial Court of Trosel.

This game has taken on an interesting pace, as this town isn't visited until an hour and a half to two hours into the game (my passive time estimation ability may be off a hair).

Also, one of the features one this game is cause and effect, this is exemplified in an event I'm creating involving a wild significant other. Basically, you as the player have the choice to either direct him where to go or have him out on a wild goose chase. If you move him around too much there are consequences, the details of which I won't go into now, and they will affect the game playing experience.

I'll get some new screenshots up some time soon, so until then view the trailer I posted on my last blog. Once I have more game to focus on, I can make another trailer, because I realize how lackluster my first attempt at a video was.

Regarding the Project Arcadium Demo

Rest assured that the Project Arcadium demo is on it's way. Instead of uploading it as it was, I decided to delay it's submission to clear up some unfinished work. Namely, I wanted to make sure that all battle skills were properly implemented, as well as making sure all battle graphics were created as appropriate to this stage of development.

As this is a project I have put all into, I am very confident the community will appreciate what I have done so far. So with a little bit of patience from the community and some elbow grease from myself, I will have this Project Arcadium demo completed shortly.
