An Overhaul After the Hiatus

Though I technically didn't update the game page for the Hiatus I have been in pretty much since October, I am hoping within the next 3 weeks as my school year ends I will be able to gradually return to full production speed for Diabolica! I have terrible Physics and Geometry exams to study for as well as three final projects so I'll be busy, but I have already dedicated a fair amount of time of my first week of summer break for development.

These months haven't been entirely without progress however! Unfortunately a good portion of it is at risk of being pointless due to the overhaul that is going to be occurring.

The Element Charts:
I have spent obscene amounts of time tinkering with the elements and making charts and categorizing and ranking elements based on their offensive and defensive usefulness. As a result, knowledge of the elements is vital in Diabolica.
There has already been a change in the elemental setup:
Old Chart:

New Chart:

I added the "Grass" element to balance out more of the elements. This is likely the finalized version for real this time. I am currently making a Single Type Attack vs. Dual Type Defense chart which I will make a page for as well.

The Overhaul of Diabolica
Unfortunately, I am currently dissatisfied with Diabolica. I don't believe that the half-and-half Adventure/Dungeon Crawler mix is turning out how I imagined, and I am going to completely change the directive of the game.

In spite of the ample time I've spent on town maps and the adventure part of the game, I am not yet a skilled enough designer to pull it off in the engaging and entertaining way. For that reason, I am going to remove the adventure aspect of the game. Now, Diabolica will be a Dungeon-Crawler that is augmented with cutscenes during and between dungeons, little dialogues during some battles, and other minor things that will contribute to character development and story.

The premise is almost unchanged in theory, as you will still have to search the Dungeons for the other characters, all of which besides Alder, Cypress, and Kara are optional.

The process of overhauling will be as simple as archiving important maps I've made thus far, and deleting everything else that is trivial. From there, I will begin to craft the rest of the game, which will be multiple dungeons and one town. There are some possible combat adjustments that are in consideration at this time as well, even as drastic as On-Map battles. But everything is up in the air at this point in time.

This shouldn't be too hard, and the overhaul will guarantee that I can finish and release this game before summer's end, so let's hope that things go well!

I don't believe this will be vaporware forever haha, at least I hope not. But I want to finish this game, my RM resume is anything but impressive.
Hey, slow and steady, Adon. I still believe that you can get this done. :)
