Take a chance with this game?

The initial upload of Chance Encounter is complete! As far as I'm concerned, this game can be submitted as-is to Game Chill 2013. However, there is one small thing I want to try to add, since I have a bit of time on my hands.

I must have posted of this in several locations at this point, but the thing I want to add is add a heads-up display for the duel that's in this game. My main thought is to use a pair of windows at the top of the screen. Each window would have two lines of text. One line would be a duelist's name and the second would be the duelist's current/max hp. This probably sounds like really simple stuff to some, but this approximates my comfort level (and expertise) with customizing Ruby scripts.

I guess, in a sense, my chips are not exactly all on the table. I've got one trick up my sleeve, and it might not even be a great one. It's also going to be really hard to keep up with the gambling metaphor. That's the least of my concerns, methinks!

Darigaaz, I think I've got this! I seriously thought this would take me a week, if not more, to figure out! I mean, obviously, I would need to do at least one more playtest from beginning to end. As of this moment, I have the player start position on the map with the duel scene, so I can do several more playtests of that scene with the HUD to make sure things are working the way I think they are. If things seem to check out okay, I'll update the duel screenshot to reflect the changes, and re-upload the game.

Things are looking amazingly up!
Well, of course I have to take a chance with this game, silly; I’m one of the judges! I have to play and score everything that comes out for Game Chill 2013 no matter what the quality or length may be.

But kudos on you for getting your game out miles ahead of everybody else. That’s something, right? ^^

EDIT: Why is this game over 200 MB’s? What’cha got in it that’s so huge???

I would like to point out the following rule:

Your game should not require any additional components that a judge would have to purchase or download.

In other words, while I could have uploaded a 16.5 MB ZIP file, it would require the additional component of VX Ace's RTP. Heavens forbid that a judge does not follow the rules of the event he is judging!
Surely theres an exception for the rtp?

I may have a copy of an RTP that a game would require on my hard drive, but that's not the point. If a game requires RTP to run, not including it means that the game is missing critical resources. Wouldn't that reflect negatively on you, as a developer?

I'm also quickly realizing that I have no clue how the other judges feel about this issue!

*Edit: To be on the safe side, maybe you could add a version of the game without RTP and one with? I might try that too, and label the downloads as such.

Okay, well, I cut out some chaff in respect to the "with RTP" version. However, I haven't uploaded it yet. Since I have access to a computer that doesn't have the RTP on it, I want to try running it on that one to make sure I didn't screw up.

*Edit: Wow. So, not only does the stand-alone version take up waaay less space (200+ MB to a little under 40 MB), but, from the playtesting I did, it's perfectly playable as a stand-alone! Geeze, I had no idea how much stuff I wasn't using!

So, uh, yeah. I've updated the stand-alone version of the game. If there are any problems with it, let me know before the event ends (if possible)!
