Dear Red, this is the story of what didn't happen to your mother.

Ok. I'm kind of lazy right now, so it won't be a big, big review- I'll just point out what I thought about the game. Thereby, no rating this time.

To start of, this is a short game. Normal playtime varies from three minutes (literally) to ten minutes. Playtime depends on how fast someone gets killed. You have to replay it several times to understand what's going on. That is, if you end up understanding. I did not. I don't know if it was that I didn't fully explore the game (which I doubt because I choose every option available) or there's just not enough information. Anyways, a lot of questions were left unanswered.

This is what I wrote during playthrough - potential spoilers will be hidden.

-------------------

First playthrough.
Music in the beginning is unsettling; she's talking about her mom being murdered, not about her first day in high school. Also, why would someone show to a little girl photos of her dead mom?
Is that her dad? Is that her? He's the murderer? What's up with dad's grumpy face?
How can she be so cold? After all, she's about to kill her father...
So she walks around holding a knife where everybody can see it. Smart.
How can he not notice she hid it behind? It's so blunt!
Nice mapping.
What a knock! She's about to break the door!
He doesn't recognize his daughter? What is this?
How stupid I am. I should have told the truth. Now he's going to kill me, I'm sure as hell.
Shit. Discovered me.
Wait, I'm not his daughter? So who the hell am I?
...What the heck did just happen?
What's this about her mom's face?

Second playthrough

I'm gonna say the truth.
Calm down, you're gonna break the door.
Lied again. I don't know what happened to my hand; it just moved by itself and choose to lie.
Oof. Not dead yet. Can explore the house.
Opened a box, he's going to discover me, isn't he?
So what was in the box?
Opened the chest.
OOOOOh! So MY dad knows this guy! Still don't know who he is, though.
My dad told you what?

Died again. Shit.

Third plathrough.

I'll select the same choices. Maybe I'll be able to explore further the house.
When will I be able to kill him? What am I waiting for?
Died. This served me nothing.

Fourth playthrough.

Let's not knock. I'm a rebel.
...
...
...That was fast.

Sixth playthrough (the fifth playthrough was just as fast).

How do I go to the other room? I can't? Then why it's there? To tempt me to a world I shall never know?

Seventh playthrough.

Ah, I get it. You get a short span of time before meeting him. I'd say the transition from wherever you are to meeting him is very abrupt.

Ninth playthrough.
Yeah, got to talk to the little girl!
Actually, no.
So you won't kill him? Red, I don't get you.

Tenth playthrough
This time, let's be straightforward.
Red is scaring me.
(talking about the knife) "I'll use it to cut off your limbs, make you stay stuck between hell and reality. Isn't that brilliant? *Big grin* "
*Guy slams the door and locks it from the inside*
Nice one, Red.
What am I supposed to do now?
I'm in. Where is he?
...They escaped? Why am I not surprised?
What's that on the ground? A (big) strand of the little girl's hair?
So you just walk away, huh? See why you shouldn't say that to someone you're about to kill, Red?

Twelth playthrough.
Gotcha! Huh? You
leave her with your daughter? Are you insane? The girl's crazy!

Am I missing something?

------------------

Gameplay was ok. Nothing groundbreaking. It was the average "explore and find whatever you can" gamplay. No puzzles.
Oh and call it whatever you want but this is not horror.

The Music didn't add too much to the atmosphere. As aforementionned, it was odd at the beginning.

The looks were also ok. I liked the art, and how the screen went dark when her mood switched. The maps were nice, though why create a room the player cannot access? I thought for a while there would be something there that would reveal me the truth. Maybe there was a key and I didn't find it? If yes, why not tell the player "the door is locked. You need a key." or something like that? It didn't even seem to have a door, to start of. The other maps were good.

Luckily, there were no bugs. Or, at least, I didn't find one. I applaud you.

The story was...Confusing, to say the least. Red didn't seem to have much of a personnality, besides wanting revenge (if that has something to do with personnality). Let's not talk about the little girl. The guy was very odd. Sometimes he seemed innocent and caring, and sometimes he just killed Red without thinking it twice. Why don't tell her the truth?
And I don't understand why he lets you meet his daughter if you say you took a walk and doesn't when you tell him you're on a mission. What difference does it make to be on a walk or have a mission? Does he just let people who takes walks meet him daughter? Furthermore, how come he didn't found out it was Red? It's even more suspicious! I know it's for game purposes but still...Give him a reason to let someone who might want to kill him meet her sick daughter!

Besides that, I still don't get the story very well. And being it the most important part of this game, it's an big issue.

I have some questions for the creator:
So the truth was the her own father killed her mother? Why? And then, what has this guy to do with it? He helped him? Why did she think it was him who killed her mom?

Ah ha ha ha I enjoyed your review pretty much. Thank you for that.

And I won't answer anything related to the game's story, i'm sorry.
How you understand it depends on the order of the endings you got.
