Rise but does not shine!

Hello, players!
MadKingTV is a developer that made a couple of games here, The Fallen Rise and The Bar, and they both look peculiar. But are they good? Heh good question since I did not leave a rating, but later I'll explain why.

The Fallen Rise, the game I'll analyze today, is a sort of short visual novel with minimal interactions and choices. Let's say that the first and only important one is the choice to basically say "go to hell!" and end the game immediately! The others... well consist in basically asking the npcs to talk more but this isn't a particularly interesting thing because the whole story is pretty cryptic and also it won't change the outcome of the game. Well, the "game" since it's little more than a walking simulator.

Oh yes the story! We play as a long haired lawyer (for some reason I'm imagining him portrayed by Tommy Wiseau) that has to uncover the mystery of the death of his wife. In his quest for truth he'll have to traverse a series of boring corridors encountering various individuals, from amn ugly blonde man to a cute guy that found the body of the woman and now the protagonist is defending in tribunal. Each character will tell some details about the story, even if in the end... it seems that the murder was just some guy (that seems to kill the lawyer too, leading to a final Game Over). No, really? Please play this game and tell me if I missed something because... meh I don't know!

Yes we all end. And luckily also this game is gonna end soon... like my review!

Visually the game is pretty bad. Or better, it's boring! I mean there are corridors, roomg and a linear path to the end, but these maps have no soul. Not only they are boring, but there are some items that have no purpouse nor interaction, so why they're even there? Does the pink plushie seen in every room have a meaning? Uhm I do not know, probably not. There are other imprecisions like all characters' portraits wearing the same clothing and not the one their charsets really wears, not to mention a ton of typos, cut text and other less important issues, for example the music: the game is totally silent aside for the game over and menu theme that is totally out of place considering the grim atmosphere of the game! At least there are no serious game breaking bugs or other glitches!

Final Verdict
It's hard giving a rating to this game that's basically a ten minutes diversion, I mean the idea was pretty interesting, but both story and mapping could have been greatly improved to make the game more interesting, engaging and understandable. Uhm ok, so that's why I chose no rating: not only the game is very short but also pretty confused in my opinion, if you want try it, it's mercifully short but it won't be and exciting or entertaining ride! You've been warned!
