You didn't think it was going to be an issue, sending your wife and daughter ahead of you. However, not long after you sent them off, certain jump gates ceased to respond. You may be able to get back to your family, but it requires a certain amount of influence. Influence you don't have. Influence you have to earn.


Made for the McBacon Jam #1, with the themes of deprivation and/or abundance in mind. This game involves a pick-up-and-deliver mechanic as well as a mission structure that moves the story forward. Sadly, the official event submission of this game will probably not have combat, but, combat should be available sometime after the event development period is done.

We highly recommend reviewing the packed-in readme file, as Glasses' movement script makes the controls different than your average RPG Maker game!

Crazy ideas that might just work

So, having something equipped in each slot is pretty much going to be a thing. The thing I'm toying around with now is turn rate. Call me crazy, but, it just doesn't feel right to have the same turn rate for the entire game. It actually feels slow on those faster drives!

I'm not sure if equating it to the character's speed works that well, though. I mean, the ship's velocity seems pretty insane-fast at speed 11. Which... could translate to tiles traversed per second? It's pretty hard to calculate at that speed, and with no grid to go by. Though, I'm pretty sure than in the context of turn rate, the 11 would translate to 11 degrees per second. On the flip slide, the slowest drive has a speed of 5, so, 5 tiles per second velocity and 5 degrees per second turn-rate.

Thing is, I don't want to mess with the lower-end stuff at all. Just the upper end. So, the following code-snippets...

...is what I'm coming up with, and the turn rate feels manageable to me! Also, I thought it would be appropriate to set the angle of the player's ship to 0 degrees after choosing to Explore? I dunno. Might be a moot point in the end. Still, I want to test this a bit more before doing another release. Plus, I'm half-expecting a review that could point me to other issues to address!

Guys small glitch, whenever you buy an upgrade for your ship and equip it it resets your Hull to 1 and your energy to 0. Which means you then have to repair your ship, is that supposed to happen?

Also there is a small spelling error in the last transmission you get from your wife she says she's hearily looking forward to seeing you, not sure if it's meant to be 'really' or 'heartily'

Also in the final scene Alice Says 'fourtune' should be 'fortune'.

I might have noticed that changing equipment reset armor/energy, but didn't think it was relevant to the jam-build. There's no combat that would require players to upgrade their equipment!

Also, thanks for the spelling corrections! This is what happens when you don't run the dialog through a spell-checker!

*Edit: Now that you mention it, this is a pretty big game-balance issue. How do we handle equipment changing, and armor/energy damage? There is the situation of being able to sell old armor, or engine, when they are not at their full capacity, at normal price. Also, we cannot simply recharge armor/energy whenever players change equipment, since that would mean that the menu access Ship Outfitter grants would circumvent the need to repair.

Though, I might suppose that one way to circumvent that is to store current armor/energy into variables, and have them set to those values after concluding the Ship Outfitter sequence?

That's true but at the time I bought the equipment I didn't know there would be no need for it, and honestly I thought the engine upgrade would tie into onscreen speed. Still in the end it made no actual difference and I went through the rest of the game at 1HP with no adverse effects,

Funnily enough, having the SPEED stat tie into your actual on-screen speed was an idea I had floating around. Though, I fiddled with the numbers to get the speed where it's at, so, I'm a bit more confident in experimenting with this.

Well, I...tried this out. I have nothing to say since there was not much I could seem to DO in the game and the missions ran out quite quickly. I assume it's still in the very early stages and not a real “demo”.
Zooming around in the ship was fun I guess XD
I didn't feel too comfortable uploading the video here since it doesn't really go anywhere, but here's the livestream of it.
That aside, congrats on getting something out for the jam!

I streamed this yesterday. Love the setting and Trivel's movement script. Unfortunately I skipped the first planet so never did any missions but good job guys!

I finally got my hands on cypher and enjoyed it. I loved being filthy rich and just driving around sectors. I would appreciate some graphical upgrades to my ship, tho. So, I can show off while selling slaves for outrageous prices.
If this turns out due to Piantom's requests, It can be my fav game of the year.

Another not-so-random thought is to allow players to buy different ships (Ship Outfitter option?), and base the graphics on that. However, that's a whole other thing entirely, as having different ships would mean different base-stats, and the game-balance issues such would involve.

*Edit: Let's not to mention the weirdness of buying a new ship, which would essentially be changing class for the purposes of RPG Maker, and, very probably, needing to re-equip your stuff.

Oh, there is just so many possibilities. You can leave it now or make it bigger than thou. I'm fan of every direction which keeps the game open. Even it its current state its something memorable and actual with all these big releases of space sims lately.
And I luv the background here, Its always nice to return on this site.

Of course I have my critiques too. However its always better to repeat the adornment than the mourns.

So, I've just finished uploading a public demo that, unless I'm horribly mistaken, does not require the RTP to play. While part of doing this is part of an attempt to re-start my own interest in making this game happen (by virtue of having people play this, and talk about it in hushed whispers), another part is to let people actually see what the heck I've been talking about the last couple of blogs in action.

I have heard a report of a missing file. "Shot1" was missing. I've run the game through Tsukihime's resource-checker, and disabled RTP reliance before making another self-extracting EXE, extracted the file to make sure the file was included, then updated the download.

I apologize for any inconvenience this caused.
