A boy and his ghost...

Hello, players!
This time I am going to review A Ghost Visit, a 2015 RPG Maker 2003 game by the german developer Goldenroy that was made for the 'golden week of RPG Maker 2003' Contest. Anyway first a WARNING: while the game is listed as completed, this is a demo that ends in media res, without resolving the plot. What a pity! I really hoped this was a complete, even if short scenario, anyway I played the last version, not the one that was submitted to the contest... and the description on the main page says of "different ending" (actually here there is no ending!), so I may tray later the older version, but this review is about the last, most polished version.

Ghost Visit starts with four Rtp heroes we already know, that include Alex, Zack, Falcon and Lilia (technically their names aren't told here, but one of them use the default Rtp hero name, so I assume it was the same for the others) getting ready to fight the Demon Lord, unfortunately things won't go as planned!
It's the beginning of another day and we start playing as Arthur, a young boy that lives in a small village and helps his father working at their furniture shop. Arthur is good natured but rather clumsy, meek and shy, he's in love with the innkeeper and is living a quiet life. But one day he meets Zack. Yes, that's the same Zack I mentioned before, the hero. Except that he's dead and he's now a ghost. He visits (a real ghost visit!) Arthur telling that he needs his help to finish his mission: defeat the Demon Lord, otherwise his little town will be destroyed by the evil overlord!

The main feature of this game is that you can switch between Arthur and Zack, the ghost that can read people's minds!

Anyway Zack can still help Arthur in his ghost form, and the game will in fact let you switch between Arthur and Zack by pressing the Shift key. Arthur is your classic rpgmaker hero, can walk around, talk to people and use items. Zack does the same but he's invisible, can read people's thoughts and possess them. This will be the key to solve some little quests in this very short adventure.

There isn't much to say about the gameplay: the game takes place during a couole of days where Arthur has to complete some simple quests, first alone and then with the help of Zack the ghost. Very simple but pretty cool, there are no battles nor equipment or other classic rpgmaker activities, the inventory is mainly used to check the two protagonists' quest logs. Yes, two, because Arthur and Zack have two different quest objectives since they're two different characters. It's also possible to save anytime, and that's always a good option.

Since Ghost Visit was made for the 'golden week of RPG Maker 2003' contest, it's an all-RTP game, BUT it's the case in which mapping is extremely good for an excellent use of the resources: the setting is cute and small, there are many details and no example of "overly large locations" nor I found mapping errors. It's true that there aren't many maps, but all is done well with great attention and precision. All good here!

Final Verdict
Ghost Visit is a pretty good mini-adventure-game that would have been even more perfected by having a proper ending. Yes, that's the only problem I have with the game, I mean it could still have been a short adventure with few quests (otherwise it would have been boring) and locations, instead of an unfinished epic story about defeating the Dark Lord... what a pity! It's still all pretty much well done, so you may try it and have fun for almost an hour, desite its limitatios!
