Death proclaimed is a high action horror RPG. While the game had many good features to it, it also contained many bad.

The game starts off quite well. The back story to this game pulled me in quite well, and made me ready to play. Music and effects in the intro were well suited to the game, aside from the horrible face sets. Gameplay was quite good in the beginning as well. Exploring the forest, and using orbs to destroy enemies, what more could you want? Unfortunately, it is right after the first ten or fifteen minutes that the game begins to go downhill.

You get your knife, and the ABS begins. Unfortunately, it just wasn't well pulled off, and it felt impossible to use. Enemies would appear out of nowhere, and just come chjarging for you. The player gets a tenth of a second to turn around and slash before this ghost hits them. Even aside from the lightening quick monsters, I even found that often when I went right up to an enemy, the ABS still would not allow me to attack them. I would swing over and over, just to die in the end.

Now, as I said in the beginning, there was some good to this game. I did quite enjoy the story (as far as I got to in it, anyways). Some parts felt like they were over acted, so to speak, but for the most part, the dialogue was great. The maps were quite nice as well. Many of them were simple, but they just worked, and that is something that is not always pulled off. Screen effects and music added quite a touch to this game as well, without them, it would not be the same.

So, let's break down this rambling into categories:

Music - 3/5
While it was well suited to the game, all of the music was from Silent Hill, and that was all I could think about while I listened to it.

Graphics - 4/5
Very good use of effects and atmosphere. The use of some RTP was pretty good too. However, the face sets were horrible.

ABS - 1/5
I'm sorry, but it just didn't work. The 1/5 was for the effort that I'm sure you must have put in. Pat yourself on the back, and try again.

Story - 4/5
The story was great. Overacted at times, but great nonetheless. Mood is a large issue in horror games, and I feel that it was quite well set in your game, good job!

Overall - 3/5
While the idea was there, along with some good graphics and plot, it just didn't come together just right. I would recommend some people try this, as they may have a different view on it then me. Don't let this review get you down Nocturna, you have a lot of potential. I hope next time it comes together better for you. Keep on making games!
