"Instant and immediate death" bugs me for some reason. It's like saying "short and not tall person" or "blue and also blue sky".

True enough. It's kinda a statement that's been used a lot so it's kinda stuck in the language. Kinda like "Immediately if not sooner".

*shrug* Felt it flowed naturally in the conversation so I used it. XD
