Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland DLC now available!

Wow, talk about not meeting deadlines, right? Some of you might remember that I annouced a Legionwood expansion pack, way back in late 2010. Although it ultimately ended up being cancelled due to hard drive failure, I managed to recover some of its assets a few months ago and, rather than doing the logical lazy thing and recycling them for Legionwood 2, I decided to piece them together and release the resulting mess.

So then, this is the Legionwood expansion I promised all those years ago but never actually delivered? Well, not really. But it's still a pretty cool addition to the Legionwood world.

Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland is an expansion pack/DLC for Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords. Featuring a huge new story dungeon set in the midst of the game's chaotic fourth act, as well as a considerable number of all new optional endgame quests, a revised final dungeon and over a dozen new Techs to learn, it expands the original game's playtime by at least three hours and adds several long awaited features to game, including a graphical world map and quest journal.

The main addition in Mysteries of Dynastland is the titular Dynastland dungeon, which takes place between the Sealed Library and Lost City Crebt areas in Chapter 4. This sprawling dungeon crawl is filled with new enemies, puzzles and challenges to test your skills against, and also reveals the never-before-seen backstory of Zanthus and his long lost homeland as your party searches for the mythical Purity Crystal, an ancient Precursor artifact rumoured to be able to manipulate time itself.

Other notable additions to the game include 12 brand new Techs, including unique Techs exclusive to certain characters, a new set of powerful Dynastland equipment, a late-game "scavenger hunt" quest that will take you to the furthest corners of the world, a complete overhaul and rebalancing of all late game content and an expanded final dungeon with a new, harder version of Castoth to fight -- in both the normal and "true" varieties. Overall, it pretty much turns the final act of Legionwood into a completely new game, which was one of my main goals as I was always rather unhappy with how rushed that part of the game turned out.

Anyway, if you're itching for some new adventures, you can grab the DLC here. Simply point the installer to your Legionwood directory and extract, overwriting files when prompted. In order to experience the new content at the appropriate difficulty level, I recommend either starting a new game or loading a game that was saved before the Sealed Library, though most of the new content except for the Quest Journal can still be accessed otherwise.

Check out these screenshots to see some of the new locations in the game:

And with that, I'm off to work on Legionwood 2 again. Happy adventuring! :)

@Idida: Yep, RTP is in there. That's partly why it's so big. Even without the RTP it'd be about 40MB. Thus is VX.

@Antarctic: See, I didn't actually fix the Orb of Origin in this version... Rather, Rift now just drops the equipment. I guess that means you can't get it now. But it isn't really neccesary to beat the final boss.

Can u upload without the rtp?

I could probly download 40mb... but 70 is too much...
I suppose I could upload without the RTP, but it won't be available for a day or two.

@Pokemaniac: Yeah, I added that after the LT. Craze raised a valid point.

i have prepaid net and have very little left... (100mb or so) it has to last me another week...

I know how that feels. I'll upload a non RTP one, but it'll take a while to be accepted is all, and I can't do it now since I'm about to go out.

I have an old version (downloaded months ago.) and i enjoyed that (very laggy tho.)

Also, i hate pre paid net.

I'm well aware of the gear not being necessary. I believe it was said that the Rift Entity was harder than the final boss, so I expect to curbstomp him when I get the chance, figuratively speaking. However, I am one of those people that prefers to complete all the challenges a game offers... Fortunately I made a save right before I fought the Rift Entity. I guess I could just go back a save and challenge him again in Version 5. At least this time I know what his attacks are.

...The Origin Blades are two handed? Nooooo :( At least the Zenith Armors seem nifty. Okay, time to finish this game. Also, there weren't any lag spikes this time around when fighting Rift Entity.

Lastly, Horus is still broken in Version 5.

Ahh, another issue... when I am in the final dungeon, where you have to go around pressing different colored buttons, it appears that the green button has already been activated before I reach it, but the block it's connected with is still in place. And there doesn't seem to be any exit... am I stuck here for good? How did people complete this game? :/
I've been playing this game on and off for a couple of days now, and I'm enjoying it, Dark Gaia. It's familiar, but fun, as you described, at the same time. If I can remember everything, I'll be sure to review it if and when I finish.

I ended up recharging my internet and am downloading now, ill let you know if i like it once if played it for a while.
I think u shuld add a limit to the ap on a stat depending on ur lvl.... and also... wut happened to legionwood 2? I prefer the graphics of vx over 2003 btw. I'm usually a fan of less advanced graphics cuhz I h8 3d games these days.... but I rlly wuld prefer vx graphics. They look moderately satisfying, while I just plain dun like the grpahics of 2003.
I took L2 away until I'm ready to formally announce it again.

@antarctic:I'm not sure how, but maybe that switch is stuck? Also, some people are unable to leave Klaim, so I'm gonna have to reupload. No idea how those errors are occuring as I made no changes there.
Ergh, I'm gonna have to kill Rift Entity for a third time >.<

Since I have to go through the next dungeon again, what is with that number sequence on the computer? It confused me for a bit since I thought it was a hint for the following puzzle.
No, it's intentionally confusing. It's a reference to Lost. my favourite TV show.
And here I was thinking I might have missed something in there. I've been thinking that the green switch already appearing in the 'on' position might have something to do with the fact that I've been transferring saves since version 3.

Enjoying this so far, nice mapping Dark Gaia.
I checked the green switch and it was doing that because it uses the same switch from the Rift Monument instead of a new one. Just redownload and you'll be able to pass.

@Idida: Glad you're enjoying it! Not the best game sure, but I think it's decent.
Don't buy the essays guys, play Legionwood instead!
