Our story begins with a giant storm! A crash of lightning! The disappearance of humans and the discovery of a strange new world! A world where mining blocks, pushing lanes and building Walls to keep out zombies isn't just cool...but your very survival depends on it.

Version 1.14 Update! More bug fixes, added hidden treasures in a few places.

Check out this First Impression partial playthrough by Driftwood Gaming!

I made Time for Games for my friends - a fair amount of the comedy is based on our own personalities and jokes. However, the different areas and themes of the game are inspired by games and stories we enjoy, so it should be entertaining for anyone who enjoys the following like we do:

Dogs, Cats, Birds, Meeses, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, League of Legends, Minecraft, arts and crafts, Project Management, Dungeons and Dragons, Rick and Morty, Shark Tank, poop and fart jokes, high-brow satire, fireworks, fantasy games, modern games, cosplay, roleplay, and of course, memes. The dankest memes.

I'm making Time for Games 2 right now, but figured that I would see if anyone would be interested in trying my first attempt at RPG Making and giving me feedback for my second attempt. It's one of those projects where I started off as a novice RPG maker and as Yanfly came out with plugins my game got much better. I'm sure my skills improved a little along the way too. I'd love any feedback, bugs, crashes, or most importantly, jokes that you hated.

Features:

  • Battle as a variety of Animals and People, each with their own unique classes and abilities! Swap party members in and out of combat to take advantage of party synergies!

  • Overcome unique and novel gameplay challenges (unique for RPG Maker anyway)!

  • Experience an occasionally clever 4-6 hour storyline filled with lots of people I know and some you might know too!

  • See how many plugins and RTP resources you can identify! I'm not an artist!

  • Basic crafting and gear upgrade system! Very Basic!

Thanks to Yanfly, Ækashics, Orange, Galv, the RPGMaker.net music pack, and all the other content creators who donate their time and talents to us schlubs for free. Thanks to all the games, shows and movies that inspire us and may be lightly referenced and parodied herein...

And thanks to you if you decide to download this :)

Enjoy the show. Warning, there may be curse words and other offensive language. And make sure you save a lot.

Download Speeds

Anyone know a better hosting site than Dropbox? The download times are horrible. Getting like 100 kb/s. It eventually goes through, but would like for people not to have to wait 30 minutes to download this masterpiece ;)

I have... no idea what this but it looks awesome. I'll give it a shot. XD

Decided to try this out myself. Haven't really noted any major bugs although there was one small one that bothers me (will mention down below).

In the area where you get reed, I took down the boss creep at level 15-16. Disappointing that he doesn't give any rewards but that's not the issue I had with him. I took puzzles to this battle because his chirp ability says it cures damage over time effects (and that particular boss likes to poison you). Sadly, the ability did not cure the status ailment, causing me to go through way more heals than I should. I didn't really want to reset and buy antidotes, so I killed him while ignoring the status ailment with the occasional treat spam.

My strategy for the boss in case you are curious (and in case you want to modify it:

Nigel uses too handsome when it is available and spams treats when its not,

Puzzles just healed since his one ability didn't work.

Alex uses medical drop and attacks. those emergency rations are essential for healing when the boss uses his tentacle move. I didn't stock up before the fight (only had 2 rations going in), but stocking up would have made things much easier for me). also of note: alex had the rapid firecannon equipped, but not once did rapid fire rapidfire ability unlock for use.

claire: one of your two main sources of damage. Spam ludens echo with her.

Finally Dan charges up boredom with rngesus and ded gam, and when he has 85 boredom use accurate eye and pentakill. This strategy got me through the fight fairly easily.

Edit: Figured out why sometimes my equip skills were not working. Apparently if you have an aegis of the legion equipped then you cannot use your equip skills. I don't know if this applies to all shields or not.

Edit 2: Game freezes if you move into an enemy during a cutscene.
Do you remember which cutscene it was where you froze?

Also, thanks much for the reports and feedback! Truthfully I made Baron Nashor as kind of a joke fight that was supposed to be incredibly hard and not really beatable, so congratulations for beating him!

In the latest version, I fixed the inability to cure his poison with Puzzles, and also added a reward. :)

Thanks for playing!
I changed the main link to download from Google Drive - it's like 10x faster...
Heh thanks for the tribute weapon. I froze in two parts of the volcano (and I hadn't saved either time because I hadn't actually been playing that long).

The first time was the cutscene where they used the portal gun over the volcano. Right when the scene was ending I got moved into an enemy encounter and I think that's what froze me.

The second time I leaped into lava, literally. I saw a rock up above that could be pushed, but I tried jumping despite the boulder was still on the cliff (and had not been pushed yet). This resulted in me jumping into the lava, and not actually being able to jump back onto land.

Third time should be the charm as I probably bumped into everything that could freeze me. I do plan on exploring that volcano fully before initiating the cutscene again though, as I like finding everything.
Awesome, thanks for the detailed notes. I fixed the scripting on the rock, and added some impassible-to-event tiles to the volcano which should avoid a pesky rat getting back there and ruining the cutscene.

Thanks again!
Playing some more and just a couple of things to mention.

1. Funny how I used a red essence to bypass that thing in the volcano only to be led into a dead end with nothing there (unless I'm supposed to come back later for that spot to matter). Either it was intended or there was no actual reason for me to explore the volcano.

2. During the volcano scene, there was a typo (I forget what the word was now, but I think complete?). Even if I'm wrong it shouldn't be too hard to spot.

3. After beating the moba section (finished off the boss just now) a couple comments on this area. I breezed through the content itself but noticed a couple small glitches. After you summon the guards to build the barricade, you can walk through said guards. Also when you finish the boss and talk to the guards, they say the green portal is gone (but it is actually still there visually). Not sure how it would have played had I tried to leave the area, but playing normally I found the section rather easy.

Will keep you up to date as I continue through the game.

Edit: Crossed the bridge, and you can quite literally walk all over that run down house.

Edit 2: Used the second book of akava to learn enchantments but I still don't see anything new after using both books. Also don't get how to use the grips. With the grips I remember seeing a tutorial dealing with I think dans crafting ability, but it wasn't all that clear and I never figured it out unless there's a particular button I'm supposed to press while in the menu or something.

Edit 3: In the small snow town, if you leave the main house and re-enter, the goblins will reappear visually. Only happens if you do this before they discuss a ladder.

Final edit (for now): Glitched out my game. Couple of notes: you cannot re-enter the bridge from the left side, but to solve this I used the portal gun. I had a suspicion I knew what the volcano was for after I got my new party members, and because I recalled a suspicious pillar of fire. When I actually entered the volcano though, the game froze (my character didn't appear, and the screen was getting random flashes like the minion falling into volcano event was still running.

Not sure where to backtrack to in order to learn new moves since that didn't pan out (unless I was correct but the glitch stopped me).
I'm enjoying this so much more than I thought I would. Definitely loving it.

What's the joke with Mt. Kilimanjaro though?
@DemonLord - Really appreciate you keeping me up to date and testing so comprehensively. I've been going through and making the updates as you report them. Hopefully haven't lost too much time from any bugs.

@Squall - Thanks! That's a reference to a video one of my friends was obsessed with for a while. https://youtu.be/ldN9fNhZcsQ about halfway through. Needless to say, he likes memes.
