Presentation and mechanics
Little Red is a topdown shooter where you explore a forest maze. You move using WASD and shoot using the arrows. When you press an arrow key, you shoot in that direction. This control scheme offers good possibilities like shooting north while moving east. A shame you can't reallocate keys to your needs; for example on non-qwerty keyboard. Controls could be improved by shooting repetitively when holding the direction key. Alt+Enter toggles between windowed and full screen. The game does not quit on Alt+F4, so you'll resort to more drastic means.

Story
You, Little Red, is going to see grandma but you have to cross the forest full of monsters and lost souls. The game just dumps you in the forest without any introduction. The backstory is the "Before.png" file located in the game folder. The backstory drownings should become in-game intro.

Atmosphere
Minimalist graphics and forest music give a sens of mystery and danger. Lost souls dialogues show up when you get close to them. This is a neat mechanic that removes the need for a dialogue key to press. Dialogues either reenforce mystery or help the player but some get displayed over dark tiles and become difficult to read. Miniboss musics deviate from the mystery type to a more action shooter type. The last boss track pushes all the way to action. These tracks sound out of place but perfectly fit the action the player performs.

Gameplay
Crossing the forest is no easy task. A single hit kills you. But save points are conveniently located and activates simply by walking on them. Upon death you'll respawn at the last save point you activated. It'll just be a few screens away for where you died so you can retry quickly.
Each screen presents a different challenge. You frequently meet new enemy type to prevent monotony. Mini bosses and the final boss are quite a challenge until you find a safe spot with a line of fire. All of them have safe-with-line-of-fire spots except one of the tree mini boss. This throw away fight strategy and challenge.

Conclusion
A fun little game with solid mechanics, good atmosphere and exploration challenge but its boss fights need rework.
