Maybe some other trees, high grass and flowers for example... You can also use other tiles like pandamarus or something like that. But if you want to use only RTP resources that's fine too, cuz you can also make a good mapping with only RTP if you want. Just try it!

It's not really that empty. There is an abundance of details. But they seem to be put in there without logic. Also, If you don't need some space, just put trees or water in there. Enlarge the badge of long grass in the bottom right corner. Adding something vertical would help too.
Or just go with it as it is. There are prolly other things, which you need to do in order to finish the game and you can always return to maps.

I'm by no means a master mapper, but I've found that adding that mossy tile to green ground makes things pop a bit more. The effect is subtle, but adds a nice level of detail. The moss tile is directly above the rtp poisonous water tile if you'd like to try it out, but don't feel obligated.

Honestly, I do not see much more I can do, plus this is like the tutorial level so, I highly doubt people will be on the map long unless you are the kind of person to grind and area for like eight hours.
Believe me when I say the other maps are pretty awesome. Who knows though maybe I will go back and try to make it better.

Not a bad plan. Building a general template for a game before going back and messing with it is a great way to get things done. Just keep on truckin'!
