Presentation
Super Coolstory Bros is run and gun platformer. You control one of two guys and can invite a friend to control a second guy in co-op mode. The game features configurable key allocation and full screen / windowed selection.

Story
The story humorously starts you and your buddy in front of a classic platformer and get you sucked-in the game itself. This is an elegant way to put you in the action. The "insert floppy" screen is good element to create the retro atmosphere but incorrectly suggests mouse control before you ever move your character. If you've seen it once, it loses its novelty and turns into an annoyance because it introduces a significant delay. It would be best to have a skip option.

Aesthetics
Pixel art in this game is good and easy to read: you'll always know if you can walk on a platform, what enemies are as well as their projectiles.

Gameplay
Before you get thrown into the fight, you'll perform a well crafted tutorial. Unfortunately you can skip it if you got a gameover. When you get to the real thing you'll notice that THIS GAME IS HARD! I remember being able to finish SNES Contra in easy and reach the final boss in normal so I consider myself about average in run and gun platformer. And here, level 1 got me a few gameover already. Level 2 increases the difficulty to a point where I finished it only once. Aiming is the key element that creates the difficulty. The very first enemy type moves below you line of fire. You'll have to jump several times and shoot down to kill it. So it'll take a considerable amount of time to clear the path ahead. The lock will start to tick and you'll be forced to run and dodge. If you're lucky to be in sync with the enemy patrol cycle, you might reach the end of the level. That's what happened when I finished level 2. The level 3 was easier than level 2 because it doesn't have so many fall-and-die areas. In this game, the spread fire gun is your best friend but when you shoot repetitively, its fire pattern gets incomplete. I suspect the maximum number of player bullets on screen is relatively low and should be increased. It would also be nice to be able to fire continuously by holding the fire key. Being able to lay down and fire at ground level would also help as well as being able to stay static while fireing diagonally.

Conclusion
Many good game elements make up this game but the poor fire aiming makes it extremely hard.
