Hello everyone! Welcome to my review for Asylum: Secret of Caledria by NeoSoulGamer! This is a really cool, visually appealing, story-driven game with simple, yet effective game mechanics! There's so much effort, passion, and love put into this game that I really appreciate it so much! :)

First Impressions:

Again, I am really amazed by the quality put into this game! All from the graphics, eventing, dialogues, animations, sprites, and story! The beautiful mappings and the wonderful sprite assets are just bonus that made this game great!! I was already amazed by the fighting scenes where all the soldiers were battling each other out during the intro.

Story:

You play as Oswyn Farindon, a young soldier who is put into a political battle that is enshrouded by corruption! Everything took a darker turn when Oswyn's father fell into an unfortunate event. Now, Oswyn is determined to solve this crime, and serve their king well. Oswyn is now left in a predicament where he needs to stand up against all odds to shape the future of their generation. The game has lots of cool details that you can explore by talking to NPCs and what-not. This allows you to uncover more deeper things that you can learn about the lore, and the world at hand. World building in this game is great! I absolutely loved the exploration with some quality dialogues.

Gameplay:

It is a really cool twist at the side-view turn based battle system! There's some great emphasis at making good strategies to beat your opponents (This is most especially true, when fighting the thieves/robbers). The battles are well-balanced enough, but will leave you punished if you're not focused in making a good strategy to beat your opponents. There are also some sweet puzzles featured in this game! I absolutely adored the effort and passion put into the mechanics of this game.

Graphics:

The graphics in this game are absolutely beautiful!! The mappings are well done, the battle backgrounds feature the very same tile-sets used and I loved the lay-out. The sprites are just so wonderful! I also love the tiny little details that the char sprites do like swinging swords, laughing, and etc. They are so neat and really captures the essence of a classic!


Seriously, exploring this forest that is mapped beautifully is just... OMG!

Music:

There are lots of medieval themed music in this game, which suits the setting of the game very perfectly! They're fun to listen to and will leave you feeling pumped during every battle.

OVERALL:

This is such a great game with so many potential! I cannot wait for its release and completion! Tons of effort and passion are put into this game, and it definitely shows! If you are up for a game with a top-notch world-building, clean eventing, beautiful graphics, and engaging battles, then give this game a go!! You will not regret it! ^_^ There's already enough content and visual presentation in this game, therefore, I'm gonna start rating it despite being in demo phase. :) A well deserved 5 STARS! :)
