Apparently the event is being held in Canada this year and our team actually has a good shot to win it all this year. (Ironic, I know.) Considering that since the men’s national team is beyond pathetic and I probably won’t ever see them make it into a World Cup in my lifetime, it’s nice to see that the women’s team has risen beyond expectations and is one of the top teams in the world. Canada. In soccer. That’s like two words that don’t really mix together but they do this time.

I’m not sure if we’ll win the whole thing, but it would be nice to do it on home soil. Maybe if we do win it all it might spark the men’s team to finally stop embarrassing us in front of the whole world.

- So any of you guys gonna tune in to watch it?

(EDIT: Yaaaay, we won our first game against China. Barely though, but whatever, a win's a win, I guess.)
It's sad that womens' sports aren't treated with the same reverence and enthusiasm as mens' sports, especially when some of the womens' teams are really good. There's a lot of talent on those teams so it's annoying that they don't get as much support and exposure as the male-dominated ones. :<

Yes I'm watching it. It's the beautiful game, male or female is irrelevant.

Yeah, but hopefully that will change over time. Like you said, there are a lot of talented female players on all of these teams that could give the men a run for their money. They may not be as recognized as some of the men’s players on a more global scale, but if people continue to come out and support them and those teams continue to keep on winning and do well then the recognition will come.
Timezones are an issue. But if I manage to catch any games I'll definitely watch.
