Oops, I accidently deleted one of my game’s content folders by mistake, lol

So apparently the other day I was working on something when I noticed something was a bit off in regards to one of my game’s content folders... These folders that I usually place inside My Pictures folder on my computer basically contain any image files, stuff that I’ve been working on Paint Shop or any preparations notes that I didn’t bother to include elsewhere on my computer, like in My Documents. Basically, these are the folders that I primarily stick all of stuff in when I’m about ready to transfer whatever I need to do into the actual games folder later on.
Now as of right now, I actually have 8 game content folders that are currently up there with the rest that I don’t plan on doing anytime soon stuck somewhere on my USB drive (which there’s a lot of them, actually, lol). Some of those projects I haven’t touched in a very long time, like since 2009…one of them is from 2012…and I think another one is from 2013…? Anywho, those other projects I’m saving for another time if I get the chance after finishing what I’m doing first.
So, long story short, I noticed that I had only 7 of them up there with one of them missing, but I couldn’t figure out for a little while what that game was that I had accidently deleted by accident.
Then it turns out that I deleted this game from my collection, lol.
How the hell did I even miss that? Usually whenever I need to go clean out my recycling bin, I usually double-check everything first to make sure that there’s nothing in there, but I guess I wasn’t fully paying attention this time.
Anyways, there’s no real harm done, as I did save that particular game to my other USB driver about a month ago along with all my other stuff, as I do like to backup everything every 2 to 4 weeks just in case something happens, so everything that was there is still there intact. Truth is, I haven’t worked on that game for quite a while, since I kinda want to finish Monopoly / Monopolo off soon before working on that again.
- Anybody else ever had that happen to them? Surely I’m not the only one here that’s done that before, lol.

Ah, the pure joy of knowing you have a backup. I did manage to delete an entire folder at work once, luckily it was still sitting in my recycle bin so I could get it back, though if I didn't customise my bin to be about twice the default size I would have lost it. Like you I have a fortnight/monthly back up schedule, I would shudder to think of what I would lose if I had a HD crash.
I have learned from my past mistakes. I’ve had two hard drives crashes *knock on wood* before in my life: one from 2004 and the other one happened to me in early 2013, both have resulted in losing a tonnnn of work that I’ll never get back.
2004 was a lot more rough because at the time I had no job, no source of income, and USB flash drivers were expensive back then and both of my parents wanted nothing to do with it, so I had to rely on using good old rewriteable CD’s to save all of my work, which was a real pain. It also didn't help that those things could only save like 728 MB's for each one and they took forever for them to store everything on it. I think one day I had to wait almost two hours for one of them to complete writing itself. Ugh...
2013 I did lose some work, but it wasn’t as much as 2004 was, but I still lost a few things.
Either way, it’s always a good idea to backup your stuff whenever you can. Because one day, out of the blue *poof* - goodbye games!

I've never had a HD crash before. The rest of my computer's hardware always fails before the HD's do, so I just get a new laptop instead of sending it in to get fixed. Which reminds me that I've had my current one since mid 2012. I should probably start looking into getting a new one.
I do a virus scan and backup every week, no matter what. Since I'm always doing stuff that I'd hate to lose, once a month seems too long for me. If it didn't take me five hours to get the entire process done, I'd do it daily.
