I've been tossing around a Buffy fan game idea, reworking the story into a more classic fantasy setting as opposed to modern day. So if Firefly can be done, I'm sure Buffy can too! ;) haha

Spriting Help

Hey, I'm having a little difficulty spriting.
I've read a bunch of tutorials, and all they've really taught me is how to create a sprite. So, I have a base, but now I need to 'decorate' it, for lack of a better term. But no matter how hard I try, for the life of me I can't make clothes or hair look decent.
Is there a secret? Am I just totally clueless?
If it helps, I'm building MACK-styled sprites, and I'm going for more of a modern look.
I'd post a picture, but I just rage quit and deleted my progress :/ I'll make another attempt in the morning and share my end result.

I wasn't aware of Capcom being pro fan games. That's really interesting, I've never been a huge fan of Capcom but now I kind of want to get into some of their stuff, haha. Er, not so I can make a fan game, just because I want to support cool people :sweat:
I really like when creators of any content can appreciate fanworks. Like, I don't get the big deal with someone making a fanfiction or fan art, or even a fan game. They don't get any money out of it, so it's essentially a free advertisement. I understand that there's the whole, "Why buy it when there's a free option available" argument, but honestly the majority of the time the original creator's work will be superior as they simply just have greater resources.

@Pianotm I'll admit I wasn't even aware of gamergate until last night when I came across an article about them doxxing Felicia Day (also hadn't heard of doxxing before last night :P ). They're pretty twisted :/ That link was an interesting read, thanks!
@Liberty Thanks for the reply. I didn't think there was any malicious intent behind the exclusion, it's something that people don't really think about. Which is both good and bad. Good, that people see it as a non-issue, but also bad because it very much IS an issue. Some people just aren't sure what to put if there isn't a third option. I'm not sure about other countries, but Australia has just started introducing the 'other' gender option, and it's been a great help. Like, biologically I'm male, so it would be considered fraud to state that I am a woman on legal documentation. However, I'm not comfortable selecting the male option. So, while I can see that it's a harmless oversight, I very much believe that the addition of an "other" option would be inclusive at the very least. And if you guys are as accepting as you so, adding the option should really be a non-issue, no? ;) haha

Fan Games: Welcome or Frowned Upon?
I haven't seen it so much here, but just other places around the net that I've come across I've seen a lot of disdain towards fan games. Implying the person is just leeching of that fandom, or that they lack the imagination to develop their own game so they need to copy somebody else's.
I'm pro-fan games. Unless you copy and paste the story, just as much effort needs to go into it, and it's just as easy to make an unimaginative original game.
