I really like it, but I wonder where that shadow is being cast from - by that I mean the foliage shadowing in the middle of the screen. The trees don't seem high enough to create a canopy.
But that's me being picky. It's otherwise really awesome, and I'd love to see this in action! What battle system are you using?
SBS Tankentai with Kaduki. Not with the ATB though. I've always preferred side view over an ABS or the default front-view.

Your maps could honestly do with some improvement, in my opinion. They look a bit empty...
Try adding in more stuff; flowers, more trees, etc. to spruce it up a bit. Also, what's with one map having big trees and a big house, yet the others don't? Seems a little odd...
Just my opinion, though.
These maps are just a bit of early planning. I was using Hanzo's cliff set but I switched over to Mack's tiles. Trust me, the maps I'm working on now look much nicer. I've posted them already over here: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/5498-the-alchemists-brother/
I'll be updating there more often because it's easier to maintain than here at RMN.

I highly recommend changing that font; it's pretty hard to read.

They're not hard to read. I asked my 56-year old father to read them and he could see them just fine. Couldn't pronounce them worth shit, but read it fine.

Right. Data's fine, so everything's all good. Downloading Photoshop right now is my main concern. While it's downloading, I'm gonna try to add onto the story a bit and update the Character Bios.
