Engine Tips, Tricks and Bits (of information)

One I found out myself recently (after year of usage):
There are variables in RM.
Took me even longer to understand. Variables were somehow too much for my 10-year-old brain to comprehend. The things I've done with items before that...
[RM2K3] yet another issue with chipsets...
I don't understand the point of iDraw here, why not just import it with the import option and click on black area on the preview to select it as transparent? I don't think pitch black is used anywhere else in this chipset either.

Um... okay to start? You're using carpet as well tiles and table tops as roofing. That's really weird. Aside from that, it looks good I guess. A bit bare and empty, though.
Or are they carpets and tabletops? That was the whole point of this location actually, to challenge conventions. The floor is also a wall texture by the way. This project is actually just a side thing for fun where I try to cram all the weird things I can think of.
Speaking of weird...

Don't look.
Year End Retrospective: Prettiest/Nicest-Sounding/Best-Smelling Game Edition
I'm just gonna gratuitously ignore the real point of the thread (extrapolating from the non-serious sounding OP to assume I totally can) to nominate the worst smelling game of 2014. It doesn't count as an advertisement because it smells so bad that no one can stay on the gamepage for more than a few seconds anyway (all the downloads so far are because I hotlinked it somewhere I think).
I'm not assuming it smells based on statistics. It honestly does. Very much.

I definitely didn't expect that RTP is going to become cool again.
Here's my RTP thingy. Unimpressive and remarkable.

mysteries of rpgmaker?
I knew that the glyphs exist but somehow never used them. The other (except the \> \<) I knew for a long time. The automatic closing \^ is especially useful in cutscenes after a few \|s, and can also be a nice effect of someone being interrupted. One thing I'm still not sure about is where the escape characters work. I know everything works in messages and \V \N \C works in choices too. I remember trying \C in new game menu and it didn't work, but I recall glyphs working in other strings.

I just discovered the existence of \> and \<, which makes the text between them appear instantly in RM2k3 (and in VX too I think). Mind blown.
What are you thinking about? (game development edition)
I am wondering about games and recognizability... It seems like almost everyone posts about works in progress, making gamepages for them and such... I never did it because don't really like posting about something when I don't even know I will finish. So that's one reason why my game wasn't very popular here, another I guess is that I should probably post more and generally be more recognizable... I suppose. I don't know really why my game is as popular as it is. I uploaded it on 20th December, there were 15 more games (counting only the ones with downloads) added since then and 2 of them have less downloads than mine. I also don't know if it's too early to worry or if the game is even less likely to be noticed as the time passes. I'm also unsure to what extent should I promote it.
Offering Detailed Game Reviews (by flap)
I could definitely use a review too :) Check it out if you want something short and silly.

Intended effect: The game is supposed to be addictive and fun. Nothing else, really.
Length: Not counting the intro level, there are 5 levels with time limits from 1 to 2 minutes. Gameplay time only depends on how many times will you try.
Polish level: I'm pretty sure there are no bugs at all, and I could ensure it with such a small game. Maybe one purely aesthetic error, but it's pretty unlikely to trigger.
Maturity level: Dangerously low. Enough said.
Feedback type: I would like a rating.
And the game is definitely NOT in the limelight as of now :P
