*Doublepost* I hate to say it, but I actually wish the sprites were a little more detailed, perhaps a tad larger; the expressiveness of the concept art doesn't carry over to the field sprites. I guess FFVI spoiled me.
Technically they could be larger, but then I'd have to redo the tiles to fit the new size format. KiraStar's visual style is meant to be very clean.
The characters will be nicely animated though, much like the characters in FFVI. :)

author=wildwesauthor=DSWaltonI was expecting the answer to be background. :)
The mountains are just a simple background I whipped up. It's looks pretty cool when they come into view. :)
Anyway, this game looks like it's gonna be totally awesome! I was wondering, how hard do you think the game's going to be? Am I going to have to grind for 3 hours to be able to beat some boss or am I gonna be breezing through it? Or is the difficulty more in the middle of these two?
Hopefully I can reach a nice middle ground between the two. It's gonna take a lot of tweaking to get it just right. :)

Ooh-la-la! Are the mountains a background or actual tiles you placed? I can guess the answer but I had to ask!

This map is so cute. :D
Also, eliminate the yellow lines going into the driveway. Those are "do not pass" lines. (Unless you use them to turn left.) You could put some light dirt residue in its place.
That's a very good point! Never thought about that. Thanks! :)

Coolio! Is Dan a Zelda fan? If so, even more Coolio!
He's a huge Zelda fan (just like myself). :)

Here's a bunch of character doodles (along with their in game sprite).
From left to right:
• Our heroes, Jack & Dan. They're always getting into mischief!
• Mr. Shake, manager of the Burger Queen restaurant. He's always yelling at Gerald.
• Gerald, a lowly employee of the Burger Queen. He really doesn't care.

Drawing npcs is a great way to get in touch with their character.
How long will those two be relevant in the game?
For the most part, they're just around. Some of them will be involved in key events and storyline during certain parts of the game.

Currently working on the local fast food restaurant, The Burger Queen, and here are a couple of characters you can find there!
Eliza works at the Burger Queen as a waitress. She's pretty friendly, but will often complain about working when she'd rather be at The Crypt (the local rock club), checking out some new bands.
Adam has a bit of a weight problem, probably because he's always eating at the Burger Queen. He's fairly quiet, admiring Eliza from afar whilst he scoffs down yet another burger or two.
I've started changing the way I'm drawing the characters. I've made my brushes in Photoshop appear more "spritish", as the game will be featuring some cutscenes which use pictures, and I want a fairly consistent sprite look throughout.
