The characters are on a tilt so it looks better when there are four party members. (At least in my opinion.)
The reason the system sets are different is because one screen is older than the other. The current system is the one used in screen 2. (It fits better with the game's custom system graphics.)

Recently I've been playing Pokemon: Leaf Green, Ruby, and Gold.
I know it may be sad that a 19 year old till enjoys running in circles in an attempt to catch animals, as well as abuse creatures with Taser Imbued Abilities, but its been at most 6 or so years since I have replayed any of the originals, so why not. :)

I would suggest changing the panorama, that just doesn't look good at all.

Final Fantasy 6 Adv (GBA) - Thouroughly enjoying it, FF6 is my favorite in the series and to be able to play another remake (After anthology) just makes it that much better. Not too far, just finishing up Mountain Kolts.
Final Fantasy 1: DoS (GBA) - Actually just started this one up, never played it before. Hope it's good. (They're already throwing groups of five enemies at me!)
Metroid (NES) - This game is damn near impossible, but I'm trying my best. I'm on Kraid's level.
Super Metroid (SNES) - I'm so good at this game I've literaly beaten Ridley with my eyes closed. But I love it enough to race through it once a month. I can beat it in a few hours.

Oh, no way Edwards ever going to be a badass, because well, he isn't. Fortunately for him, he does have his place in the story, so in that, he fulfills his purpose.
And it's funny you say that, because...In this version, you can pick and choose your party members for the final stretch of the game and beyond.
I actually JUST discovered the Adv. versions
